Sinopsis

Defining Truth embarks on a journey through the ages, investigating how various cultures, philosophical schools, and scientific disciplines have conceptualized truth. This exploration is crucial since our understanding of truth shapes everything from legal systems to personal beliefs. The book highlights how differing perspectives on truth influence our legal systems, ethical frameworks, and even our personal beliefs. For example, ancient philosophies like Plato's idealism contrast sharply with the scientific method's quest for empirical truths. The book navigates the evolution of truth, starting with ancient philosophies and progressing through the impact of cultural relativism, before examining the scientific method. It emphasizes that truth is not a static concept but a dynamic one molded by historical, cultural, and methodological contexts. By weaving together history, philosophy, and cultural studies, Defining Truth promotes intellectual humility and cross-cultural understanding, offering a unique perspective on how different fields approach the pursuit of knowledge and belief.

The Most Mysterious Anunnaki governor of all was Ur-Nammu of Ur, who subsequently became an independent Anunnaki king (2113-2096 BC) and founded a spin-off Anunnaki dynasty known as the Third Dynasty of Ur (or Ur 3 period), which endured for more than a century (2113-2006 BC). This Anunnaki Empire was more compact than the Sargon of Agade and showed an advanced Anunnaki Sumerian civilization in its most fully developed form. It was a highly organized bureaucratic society, reflected because cuneiform tablets from this period, mainly referring to gods and descendants of Nibiru in content, are represented in world museums to the number of well over a hundred thousand; most of these are waiting to be published.
Anunnaki's references became obsessive. Every thing had to be annotated to the Anunnaki realm, such as, on one tablet, an exact count of Anunnaki Deities (2,740 in total) although only 96 were worshiped as gods. There were even documents recording a mass exodus of Anunnaki back to Nibiru for a festival. Despite, or perhaps even because of, this sophisticated Anunnaki worship, it was a time of considerable material prosperity, as archaeology witnesses, as widespread evidence of Anunnaki Temple activities. Ur-Nammu himself, the founder of the principal Anunnaki dynasty, built or rebuilt temples in many ancient cities, such as Erech, Lagash, Nippur, and Eridu, but above all, at his Anunnaki capital, Ur.

Liberia’s oligarchy: The beginning of the end.2019 Grand Prize Winner - Red City ReviewBased on the remarkable true account of a young American who landed in Liberia in 1961.The story weaves drama, dark comedy, and romance throughout a rich tapestry of narration - The San Francisco Book ReviewKEN VERRIER IS NOT HAPPY, NOR AT PEACE. He is experiencing the turbulence of Ishmael and the guilt of his brother's death. His sudden decision to drop out of college and deal with his demons shocks his family, his friends, and especially his girlfriend, soon to have been his fiancee. His destination: Liberia - The richest country in Africa both in monetary wealth and in natural resources.NOTHING COULD HAVE PREPARED HIM FOR THE EXPERIENCES HE WAS ABOUT TO LIVE THROUGH. Ken quickly realizes that he has arrived in a place where he understands very little of what is considered normal, where the dignity of life has little meaning, and where he can trust no one.Flying into the interior bush as a transport pilot, Ken learns quickly. He witnesses, first-hand, the disparate lives of the Liberian "Country People? and the "Congo People" also known as Americo-Liberians. These descendants of President Monroe's American Colonization Policy that sent freed slaves back to Africa in the 1800's have set up a strict hierarchical society not unlike the antebellum South.Author Dan Meier describes Ken's many escapades, spanning from horrifying to whimsical, with engaging and fast-moving narrative that ultimately describes a society upon which the wealthy are feeding and in which the poor are being buried. It's a novel that will stay with you long after the last word has been read.

    INTERNATIONAL BESTSELLER
From the bestselling author of The Taking of Jemima Boone, the unbelievable true story of a real-life Swiss Family Robinson (and their dog) who faced sharks, shipwreck, and betrayal.
On December 10, 1887, a shark fishing boat disappeared. On board the doomed vessel were the Walkers—the ship’s captain Frederick, his wife Elizabeth, their three teenage sons, and their dog—along with the ship’s crew. The family had spotted a promising fishing location when a terrible storm arose, splitting their vessel in two and leaving those onboard adrift on the perilous sea.
When the castaways awoke the next morning, they discovered they had been washed ashore—on an island inhabited by a large but ragged and emaciated man who introduced himself as Hans. Hans appeared to have been there for a while and could quickly educate the Walkers and their crew on the island’s resources. But Hans had a secret . . . and as the Walker family gradually came to learn more, what seemed like a stroke of luck to have the mysterious man’s assistance became something ominous, something darker.
Like David Grann and Stacy Schiff, Matthew Pearl unveils one of the most incredible yet little-known historical true stories, and the only known instance in history of an actual family of castaways. Save Our Souls asks us to consider who we might become if we found ourselves trapped on a deserted island.

Palestine: A Socialist Introduction systematically tackles a number of important aspects of the Palestinian struggle for liberation, contextualizing it in an increasingly polarized world and offering a socialist perspective on how full liberation can be won.

Through an internationalist, anti-imperialist lens, this book explores the links between the struggle for freedom in the United States and that in Palestine, and beyond. It examines both the historical and contemporary trajectory of the Palestine solidarity movement in order to glean lessons for today's organizers, and compellingly lays out the argument that, in order to achieve justice in Palestine, the movement has to take up the question of socialism regionally and internationally.
