Summary

In selecting the biography of another animal from the Archives of Caneville, for the entertainment of a very different race, I thought I could not do better than fix upon "The Cat;" and as the celebrated Miss Minette Gattina, the historian of poor Job, had bequeathed some of her own memoirs to her native City, furnished, too, with an Introduction by herself, I at once seized upon the materials thus afforded me, and converted them into their present form.

Spid decides to spend a day fly fishing with his friends, but the ferry isn’t running because of bad weather. So when a kindly stranger offers them a free ride on his big ship, Spid’s delighted. However, nothing is as it seems. And as a fog rolls in across the sea, Spid and the gang find themselves in very deep water …
This audiobook features two songs: 'Sir Francis Duck' and 'The Trip'. You can also find music videos of the songs at https://spidthespider.com and https://www.youtube.com/spidthespider.
Spid is a lowly spider, who wants to better himself, write songs, and marry his girlfriend Bid, though he is prone to hilarious mishaps mostly of his own making. He is hard-working, cool, and a role model for young children. As well as encouraging children to read and love books, Spid's adventures also teach valuable life lessons, including determination and what psychologists call a 'growth mindset' (desire to better oneself and succeed), the importance of friendship, and sustainability. With very creative prose, Spid's adventures are fun for parents, and teachers to read to, and with, their children. They present lots of opportunities to invest dramatic license thus helping adults and children interact and engage. The humour works at multiple levels from silly and slapstick to more sophisticated wordplay and concepts. Thus, children will discover more and enjoy reading the stories multiple times. Percy the Peacock lives contentedly on Farmer John's farm, where he is beloved by all the animals and the farming family. Every morning, Percy performs his magnificent display, spreading his beautiful tail feathers like a fan of emerald, sapphire, and gold. His daily dance brings joy to everyone on the farm, from the farmer and his wife Mary to the barn cat Ginger and the sheepdog Blue.
One blustery morning, strong winds arrive unexpectedly, disrupting Percy's peaceful routine. Despite his confidence and determination, Percy finds himself unable to perform his cherished display as the wind keeps blowing his magnificent feathers out of place. Each try ends in frustration and embarrassment, leaving the proud peacock feeling defeated and ashamed.
Two kind-hearted children, Lily and Tom, witness Percy's struggle from the farmhouse. Having always admired the beautiful peacock, they cannot bear to see him so distressed. Lily suggests they help Percy by bringing him to the safety of the big red hay barn, where the wind cannot reach.
Inside the peaceful barn, surrounded by the sweet scent of hay and golden sunbeams, Percy finally succeeds in creating his perfect display. Grateful for their kindness and friendship, Percy plucks four of his most beautiful feathers for each child as a token of appreciation and good luck.
The story concludes with Percy learning that true friendship is more valuable than individual pride, and that sometimes we all need help from others. The children treasure their feathers as symbols of kindness and the special bond they've formed with their peacock friend.

Having suffered from anxiety attacks since she was eight years old, creating monsters has become a sort of therapy for Marion Jones. When she sculpts and paints, her fingers don’t tingle, the heaviness lifts from her chest, and she can actually breathe. So instead of grabbing pizza and milkshakes after school like most other kids in South Haven, Marion holes up in her room, working away on her monsters. And it’s paid off because she’s just finished her first full-face mask: a gruesome sea monster she’s named Winston. However, Halloween arrives with a Super Blue Blood Moon, and its powers somehow manage to bring Winston to life. To make matters worse, Marion’s crush, Tyler Dash, becomes the object of Winston’s possession as soon as he tries on the mask, turning him into a red-flannel and Converse high-top wearing Creature from Connecticut. Marion has no choice: she has to follow Tyler to the Halloween dance to try and stop him. Will she be able to figure out what’s happened to Tyler and stop the monster from wreaking further havoc on the school? Or has she created a real-life monster that’s here to stay?
