Summary

Democracy in America is a classic work of political and social analysis written by Alexis de Tocqueville, a French political thinker and historian. The book was published in two volumes, the first in 1835 and the second in 1840, following Tocqueville's extensive travels and observations of the young United States.

Tocqueville's primary goal in writing "Democracy in America" was to understand the functioning of American society and the success of democracy in the United States. He wanted to explore the strengths and weaknesses of democracy and its impact on individual liberties, social equality, and political institutions. The work is considered a landmark in the study of democracy and remains widely read and influential.

Alexis Charles Henri Clérel, comte de Tocqueville (29 July 1805 – 16 April 1859), usually known as just Tocqueville, was a French aristocrat, diplomat, political scientist, political philosopher and historian. He is best known for his works Democracy in America (appearing in two volumes, 1835 and 1840) and The Old Regime and the Revolution (1856). In both, he analyzed the living standards and social conditions of individuals as well as their relationship to the market and state in Western societies. Democracy in America was published after Tocqueville's travels in the United States and is today considered an early work of sociology and political science.

Men don't tell you what they really think, but they tell psychologist Helen Smith—and she tells you.James Brown said that it's a man's world. That was then. Today, men are living in a female-centered society that shares and pervades their lives whether they realize it or not. Our modern culture views dating, marriage, and domestic life almost exclusively through women's eyes and voices; men are simply seen as objects that women can order or reject by swiping on a dating app. Men's needs and feelings are left out of the equation, or seen as downright undeserved. From the COVID Karens who scold those without masks to the den mothers who run society and the workplace, men are inundated with messages that the male point of view is unwelcome and unheard. His Side brings previously silenced straight male perspectives to light with in-person interviews by psychologist and men's rights advocate Helen Smith, author of Men on Strike. These interviews are first-person accounts of how young, middle-aged, and older men experience dating apps, marriage, and work while living in a world that no longer values masculine traits and desires. It is a psychological and political look into the mind of the modern male—terrain that is rarely explored in our female-centered society.

Written by political activist and revolutionary Thomas Paine, Rights of Man defends the French Revolution and argued for written constitutions, welfare, and widespread education for all. Published in two parts in 1791 and 1792, it was a direct response to Edmund Burke's attack in Reflections on the Revolution in France that was released in 1790. Born in England, Thomas Paine became an avid American activist who inspired patriots to declare independence to create the United States of America. Rights of Man advocates for political revolution when the government fails to safeguard the natural rights of its people.
