Synopsis

Democracy in America is a classic work of political and social analysis written by Alexis de Tocqueville, a French political thinker and historian. The book was published in two volumes, the first in 1835 and the second in 1840, following Tocqueville's extensive travels and observations of the young United States.

Tocqueville's primary goal in writing "Democracy in America" was to understand the functioning of American society and the success of democracy in the United States. He wanted to explore the strengths and weaknesses of democracy and its impact on individual liberties, social equality, and political institutions. The work is considered a landmark in the study of democracy and remains widely read and influential.

Alexis Charles Henri Clérel, comte de Tocqueville (29 July 1805 – 16 April 1859), usually known as just Tocqueville, was a French aristocrat, diplomat, political scientist, political philosopher and historian. He is best known for his works Democracy in America (appearing in two volumes, 1835 and 1840) and The Old Regime and the Revolution (1856). In both, he analyzed the living standards and social conditions of individuals as well as their relationship to the market and state in Western societies. Democracy in America was published after Tocqueville's travels in the United States and is today considered an early work of sociology and political science.

Harriet Tubman is one of the most iconic figures in American history, yet much of her true story has long been fragmented, misunderstood, or incomplete. While countless books recount her courage on the Underground Railroad, few explore the full scope of her strategic brilliance, military service, and lifelong leadership.Harriet Tubman sets out to correct the record. Drawing on research and rare family oral history, authors Jean Marie Wiesen and Rita Daniels—Tubman's great-great-great-grandniece—present the first biography to involve a Tubman family member since Harriet herself was interviewed in 1886.This groundbreaking work reveals how Harriet's childhood head injury limited her ability to complete early biographical interviews, leading to omissions that persisted for generations. It also uncovers her ancestral roots in Ghana, her role as a Union Army scout, spy, and strategist during the Civil War, and her tireless postwar activism as a suffragist, community leader, and founder of the Harriet Tubman Home for the Aged. This book offers a nuanced portrait of a woman whose intelligence, resilience, and moral clarity shaped American history—and whose legacy continues to resonate today.

“What happens after we die? What is the Afterlife really like? From her own perspective, Echo shares intimate insights that she has garnered from Spirit about life after death. This book is compelling, thought-provoking, and comforting.”—Chip Coffey, costar, Kindred SpiritsA Psychic's Exploration of Ghosts and How to Prevent It from Happening to You"Echo Bodine is the most genuine psychic I have ever worked with..." —Dennis William Hauck, author of Haunted PlacesWell-known psychic and ghost hunter, Echo Bodine, started seeing spirits as a young girl and has been helping to set them free for decades. Most of these spirits have one thing in common—unfinished business from their lives that leaves them restless, unable to let go and move on. Some souls choose to remain closer to this dimension rather than move into the light when they die. Here, Bodine shares her experiences and compelling investigations that have led her to see the issues from a spirit's living time on Earth which have left them restless and unable to cross over. Each story is accompanied by an exercise that will help the reader avoid the fate of a trapped, angry, or unprepared soul. Some reasons spirits haven't gone through the light include:They don't know they're dead. They are afraid of what could be waiting for them on the other side. They don't believe in an afterlife so they’re stuck in limbo. They are possessive over a person or object. They are terrified of change. How To Live a Happily Ever Afterlife is an eye-opening look at spirits—at what compels and holds them—and what you can do to avoid the same fate.
