Sinopsis

Bilingual edition of Pushkin's Eugene Onegin in both Russian and English languages. Meet Onegin, a dandy from Saint Petersburg, about 26. An arrogant, selfish and world-weary cynic. One day he inherits a landed estate from his uncle where he strikes up a friendship with his neighbour, a starry-eyed young poet named Vladimir Lensky. One day, Lensky takes Onegin to dine with the family of his fiancee, the sociable but rather thoughtless Olga Larina. At this meeting he also catches a glimpse of Olga's sister Tatyana. A quiet, precocious romantic and the exact opposite of Olga, Tatyana becomes intensely drawn to Onegin. Soon after, she bares her soul to Onegin in a letter professing her love.

One of the most popular novels released in the 1920s on the hedonistic Jazz Age, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes was declared the great American novel by Edith Wharton. Told from the point of view of a blonde flapper named Lorelei in the form of her diary, this novel follows her adventures around the world in search of a gentleman companion who can elevate her position within society. As Lorelei cycles through multiple men, she discovers things about herself and the way that she lives her life in retrospection—while also chronicling her changing moods and petty disputes with her brunette companion, Dorothy. Hilarious and a true classic, this revered novel transcends decades and continues to be relatable in this day and age.

New Narration. Plato's Allegory of the Cave is what many believe to be the foundation of Western Philosophy. It addresses what is visible and invisible, seen and observed versus intuited and imagined, and what is public versus private and just versus unjust. It also concerns the meaning and importance of education, the state of the soul, the conflict between truth and beauty, animal urges versus higher aspirations, knowledge versus ignorance, and on and on. With this audiobook, you will hear the original Allegory of the Cave and much more in less than 60 minutes. To improve your understanding of Plato's allegory, we have included original commentary surrounding this subject. This information is intended to give you a fuller understanding of the allegory. Fewer people than you may think have read or even heard of the Allegory of the Cave. Fewer still have read or heard of Plato's The Republic. If you're seeking to boost your performance in school, or if you're just curious, this audio program will put you ahead of the class! This product is part of the Simply Magazine Great Thoughts series, which emphasizes short readings so you can spend your valuable time thinking about the subjects, with time to re-listen to the original works. It's easy to find what you are looking for, because the tracks are organized by subject. For example, many people in book clubs discuss the subject after each track. This also works well for teachers, especially as the track lengths are relatively short.

Poe’s stature as a major figure in world literature is based on his ingenious and profound poems, which established a highly influential rationale for the short form in poetry. Poe was also the principal forerunner of the “art for art’s sake” movement in 19th-century literature. He demonstrated a brilliant command of language and technique as well as an inspired and original imagination. Poe’s poetry greatly influenced the French Symbolists of the late 19th century, who in turn altered the direction of modern literature. Here, perhaps, is his most icon lauded work as interpreted by veteran actor Giuliano.
