Summary

Capturing the views of over 300 business leaders on the common causes of digital transformation failure, this book sets out an actionable framework to help organisations of all sizes to build successful data-driven cultures.

Alex Vail took a sabbatical from his job on the board of one of the country's leading manufacturers to conduct several research projects, including the largest ever study into the UK's corporate AI capabilities. In total, he surveyed 234 senior leaders and interviewed 92 executives from FTSE350 companies to identify why digital transformations succeed or fail; the data dependency of organisations; and their levels of data literacy at senior levels. What emerged from the research was a clear set of success factors, grounded in mindset and behaviour elements, which have been used to create a framework that any company can follow, regardless of their size or complexity, that will guarantee successful data transformations.

This book captures all of the research in an easy-to-follow guide packed with relatable scenarios of real-world technology deployment and valuable opinions from people at the coal-face of digital transformation.

    Catching Hell - The Insider...

In Catching Hell, longtime seafood mogul Allen Ricca and author Joe Muto take readers behind the scenes of the high-end restaurant world and the international market for seafood, and how that industry has been impacted perhaps like no other due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This book exposes the fact that the American diner is being lied to on a regular basis. The culprit varies – sometimes it’s a chef or restaurant owner trying to cut corners to save money; other times it’s an unscrupulous supplier looking to pass off poor product to an unwitting receiver. And the cost of that scam eventually gets passed on to the consumer, whether it be in the form of higher prices at restaurants and markets, lower quality (or even counterfeit) product getting delivered onto your plate, or – God forbid – food poisoning. Furthermore, Ricca argues, the pandemic has only increased corruption in this industry.

This book serves as both an exposé and a call to arms, empowering consumers with the knowledge to make more informed choices when dining out.

Some of the things this explosive book reveals:

-The one fish you should never order, one that’s always a rip-off. (And the one fish that’s always a delicious, virtually-unknown bargain.)

-Why restaurants that advertise “fresh” fish are almost always lying.

-How to get your favorite restaurant to treat you like royalty – without dropping thousands of dollars.

-How the covid-19 pandemic has impacted our food supply chain and what it has meant for the everyday worker.

Stop searching for purpose. Build it.

We're living through a crisis of purpose. Surveys indicate that people feel less and less connected to the meaning of their work. Individuals everywhere are asking, "How can I find my purpose?"

That's the wrong question. You don't find your purpose—you build it. The HBR Guide to Crafting Your Purpose debunks three misconceptions about purpose at work: that purpose is found, that you have only one, and that it remains the same over time. Packed with tips and advice for how you can cultivate more meaning in your life and at work, this book teaches you how to endow everything you do with purpose each day.

You'll learn how to: find the reason behind your work; identify what makes you happy and engaged; use job crafting to transform your role; connect your work to service; build positive, fulfilling relationships; and let go of past purposes—and take steps toward new ones.

  • How to Have Difficult Conversations About Race - Practical Tools for Necessary Change in the Workplace and Beyond - cover

    How to Have Difficult...

Negotiation expert Kwame Christian's motto is: "The best things in life are on the other side of difficult conversations." If we want a more equitable workplace, and a more equitable world, we have to talk to each other about race. But, for so many of us, that's easier said than done.

Many people avoid conversations about race because of fear: fear of discomfort, damaging important relationships, being misunderstood, "canceled," ostracized. How to Have Difficult Conversations About Race equips you with the skills you need to make these crucial conversations easier and more productive.

Whether you're looking to create change for yourself and other BIPOC, or a white ally seeking to support your coworkers or clients, you'll learn how to: overcome your internal barriers to talking about diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI); work around others' barriers to productive discussion; be strategic about the outcome you want, and guide the conversation accordingly; use "Compassionate Curiosity" to connect and persuade; avoid common mistakes; and communicate more effectively over email, when you can't talk face to face. If you've ever struggled to turn that passion into persuasion, or been too afraid to speak up at work (or outside of it), this book is for you.
