Synopsis

Self-Healing Materials explores the innovative science behind materials that can automatically repair damage, focusing on revolutionary applications within aviation and aerospace engineering. The book discusses how nanotechnology is enabling lighter, more fuel-efficient aircraft using composite materials. These materials, while advantageous, are prone to specific damages like micro-cracking. Understanding self-healing mechanisms, such as microencapsulation and vascular networks, is crucial for extending aircraft service life and minimizing failures.

The book traces the evolution of materials science, from traditional alloys to advanced composites and self-healing polymers. It begins with fundamental concepts and progresses to detailed explanations of self-healing mechanisms and their specific applications in aviation, including self-healing coatings and adhesives. The book argues that integrating self-healing materials into aircraft structures is a paradigm shift, potentially reducing downtime and improving safety.

  • The Sleep Reset System - A Step-by-Step Guide to Falling Asleep Faster Every Night - cover

The Sleep Reset System - A...

The Sleep Reset System gives listeners a practical, structured way to stop treating sleep like a mystery and start rebuilding the conditions that make it happen naturally. Instead of relying on one-off tips, supplements, or generic relaxation advice, it presents sleep as a system shaped by biology, environment, timing, habits, stress, and conditioning.
Listeners learn how sleep actually works, how to identify whether their main issue is falling asleep, staying asleep, poor sleep efficiency, or schedule misalignment, and how to fix the specific inputs that may be keeping them awake. The book walks through the core levers that influence better sleep: morning light, circadian rhythm, sleep pressure, bedroom darkness and temperature, caffeine and alcohol timing, movement, wind-down routines, screen boundaries, anxious thoughts, and the learned association between bed and wakefulness.
Its strongest value is that it turns sleep improvement into a repeatable protocol. Each chapter gives the listener a clear next step that can be done quickly, making the book useful not only as an explanation of sleep, but as a practical reset plan. The listener walks away with a system they can apply tonight, refine over the next few weeks, and return to whenever stress, travel, parenting, work, or bad habits disrupt their sleep again.
The core promise is simple: better sleep doesn’t come from forcing yourself to shut down. It comes from sending the right signals to your body, in the right order, consistently enough for sleep to become natural again.

'Achieving net zero will be the most amazing thing humankind has ever done.' - Bill Gates
In 2010, Bill Gates first came up with the term 'Innovating to Zero' to advocate a nuclear energy technology that would be safe and reliable, and have zero emissions. From its early use as a placeholder in Mesopotamian and Mayan civilizations to being ascribed value in seventh-century India, zero has today become the foundation without which modern world would crumble. In the twenty-first century, zero is taking on a completely new meaning - VISION ZERO.
In Innovating to Zero, Sarwant Singh sets out to explore a zero-concept world, where this vision can be used to create a sustainable future by achieving zero-emission vehicles, zero waste, zero accidents, zero defects, zero security breaches, zero carbon emissions, zero obesity and even zero diseases. From companies like Nissan, Britannia and Atos to a government organization like UK's Jet Zero Council to even a football club like Tottenham Hotspur, the book highlights the various fields where zero can play a disruptive role-be it among communities or corporates, in the context of social and business agendas, both today and in the future.
For readers, Singh provides a step-by-step approach to designing, developing and delivering a zero-vision strategy and a framework to achieve it, inspiring them to create a sustainable planet.

Wernher von Braun ( March 23, 1912 – June 16, 1977) was a German aerospace engineer and space architect. He was the leading figure in the development of rocket technology in Nazi Germany and a pioneer of space technology and science in the United States.
After World War II, von Braun was secretly moved to the US, along with roughly 1,600 other German scientists, engineers, and technicians, as part of Operation Paperclip. He worked for the United States Army on an intermediate-range ballistic missile (IRBM) program, and he developed the rockets that launched the United States' first space satellite Explorer 1.
He served as director of the Marshall Space Flight Center and as the chief architect of the Saturn V super heavy-lift launch vehicle that propelled the Apollo spacecraft to the Moon. In 1955, von Braun became a naturalized citizen of the United States. In 1975, von Braun received the National Medal of Science. This recording is from Dr. Von Braun's speech at the 1st Annual SOLE Symposium, September 13, 1966, in Huntsville Alabama.
