Summary

A perfect story for fans of Gaiman and Pratchett's GOOD OMENS, SHAUN OF THE DEAD and THE WORLD'S END.
Arthur Crazy is drunk and seeing ghosts.

This is not a metaphor. The dead are walking and talking, and it doesn't matter that Arthur doesn't believe in them. They believe in him.

Too drunk to recall how he stumbled upon his nascent power, Arthur is burdened with newfound responsibility: he's the only one who can hear the unfinished business of every dead guy in York, and he's the only one who can help.

As forgotten legends and lost demons stir all over the cobbled streets and snickelways, Arthur finds himself at the centre of an unfolding mystery—a light in the desert, a fart at a funeral—and he is about to discover that an unfortunate surname isn't the only thing that makes him stand out.

Arthur just wants to sober up, have a kebab, and go home, but his conscience is knocking loud and clear, demanding he open the damn door. He may not be the hero the dead need, but he's the one they're stuck with. Besides, one of those ghosts seems kind of cute.

THE NEW AUDIOBOOK FROM THE MUCH-LOVED AUTHOR OF THE GRAN TOUR, A CHIP SHOP IN POZNAN AND THE MARMALADE DIARIES

Food fights, fishing and French cooking - bestselling author Ben Aitken's year of actively pursuing fun

Ben Aitken wasn't getting enough. He knew it and so did everyone else. He was grumpy, increasingly boring, mostly joyless. So, he joined a lawn bowls club. A week later, he doubled down on the doldrums by learning to dance like they do in Bollywood. Then - with an almost entirely reformed selfhood winking appealingly just around the corner - he started swimming in cold water and was back to square one.

Despite the setbacks (and hyperventilation), it was becoming clear to him that the very pursuit of fun was a great way of not feeling naff. And so he made a vow to have as much of the f-stuff as he possibly could.

Taking a liberal approach to the subject, he sought out things that he used to find fun a long time ago (i.e. food fights and wrestling); things that he'd never done before but reckoned could be fun (boozy French cooking classes, tantric sex); things whose fun-factor was less obvious and more down to earth (nostalgia, volunteering, edible gardening, watching chickens); and things that he wasn't at all sure about but were fun according to other people (gym classes, caving, TikTok). Unsurprisingly, the results were mixed, but he was undoubtedly left feeling ... better. Which left him asking, if fun is the finest medicine, why do we stop doing it?

"Since I switched to Soul-Suds, my sink isn’t just clean—it’s enlightened."
Alex is a "Professional Email Rephraser" at a boutique marketing firm where the walls are made of moss and the CEO wears a fleece vest as a personality trait. Her life is perfectly optimized: she has the right meditation apps, a "thought-partner" boyfriend who communicates in therapy-speak, and a career trajectory that looks great on a spreadsheet.
    Then, the "Slack-pocalypse" happens.
One accidental, vitriolic message sent to the #General channel turns Alex from a "Brand Associate" into a "Legacy Liability." Within forty-eight hours, she’s been dumped via a Venmo transaction, "offboarded" from her corporate ecosystem, and forced to move into a "co-living pod" with a Manifestation Architect who charges for eye contact.
But when a meltdown over organic kale at a self-checkout goes globally viral, Alex becomes more than just a girl in a turtleneck—she becomes a "Sonic Event."
As the digital world tries to monetize her misery, Alex is forced to choose: Does she lean into her new role as "Chief Chaos Officer" of the viral loop? Or does she do the most radical thing possible in the age of the algorithm?
Hit the power button. Walk away. Unsubscribe.
Unsubscribe is a razor-sharp, percussively funny satire of the "Hustle Harder" era. It is a story for anyone who has ever felt like an "unexpected item in the bagging area" of their own life.

Inspired by real-life class-action lawyers, The Education of Ryan Coleman begins in a Texas courtroom, where an ambitious attorney from Philadelphia chases his share of a lawsuit and gets his ass reamed by the judge. During this “trial-by-fire,” Coleman meets Eugenia Cauley, a female legal shark whose life ends tragically, and Robert Smalley, a brilliant attorney and borderline criminal who boasts that “I have the greatest practice of law in the world. I have no clients.” Coleman enters a hedonistic world of wealth and power, and becomes an errand boy and fixer for Randy Hollis, an insanely successful lawyer who is trying to buy a professional football team. Patrick Coyle, a prosecutor with an old grudge, and Dick Dickey, former Secretary of Defense and CEO of a military contractor, try to ruin Hollis and Coleman. When an escort mysteriously dies in Hollis’ penthouse, Coleman must choose between telling the truth or going to jail. This satirical thriller reveals how our legal system enables lawyers to get filthy rich. As Mortimer Zuckerman, real estate magnate and media billionaire, once said, “Practicing law is the exact opposite of sex. Even when it’s good, it’s bad.”

Long before he proclaimed himself Emperor of the United States, a young Joshua Norton arrived at the Cape of Good Hope as part of a grand British scheme: the 1820 Settler scheme. His family, like thousands of others, was promised fertile land to serve as a buffer against the Xhosa kingdoms on the volatile Eastern Cape frontier.
This wryly humorous and meticulously researched novel plunges you into the brutal reality of the Albany district, a land far from the promise of prosperity. Here, the Norton family struggles to farm unforgiving soil amidst a maelstrom of cultural conflict. The air is thick with tension between the newly arrived British, the established Dutch colonists, and the resilient Xhosa people defending their ancestral lands, all set against the backdrop of the relentless Frontier Wars.
Witness Joshua’s formative years shaped by violence, economic ruin, and the stark absurdities of colonial ambition. It is on this scarred and contested ground that a boy is forged—his keen sense of justice warped by tragedy, his reality blurred by the immense pressure of a world perpetually at war. This is the definitive account of how a not-very-successful settler’s son began his extraordinary journey to become the beloved monarch of a realm that existed only in his magnificent, fractured mind.

"A captivating ode to the constant work of becoming—and understanding—oneself." PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
PANSY is a non-linear, episodic story that combines poetry, cultural criticism, and essays. It follows Black transmasc, southern writer Jasper as they fumble through an awkward Memphis upbringing in the 90s and early aughts, an insufferable Nashville PWI, and a fierce NYC queer awakening, all with a poignant throughline on Black exceptionalism, focused on Jasper's wildly agonizing first publishing experience with JUNIPER LEAVES.
