Walter Scott
Sir Walter Scott was a prolific writer of both poetry and fiction and is best known for the novels Waverley, Rob Roy, and Ivanhoe. Now recognised as one of Scotland’s most influential authors, he frequently explored themes of Scottish national identity in his work. Although he achieved great success both as an author and in the legal profession, he was plagued throughout his life by financial difficulties, and often wrote under the pen name ’The Author of Waverley’.
