Teraina E Hird
Teraina E. Hird was born in North London in 1943. She
attended a secondary modern school, leaving at fifteen
without any formal qualifications. She entered the motor
trade as a trainee mechanic in 1958 and attended day-release
College to study for City and Guilds. After emigrating to
Australia in 1962 and returning to the UK in 1964 she
resumed working in the motor trade. She built and raced
Mini’s from 1972 to 1982 setting up her own garage
business in 1977 building sports car and race engines,...
