Sally Herdman
Robin Nicholson grew up near Blaydon, a suburb of Newcastle, and spent much of his childhood lost in a world of imagination. One of nine children, he was a natural storyteller from an early age. As an adult, he travelled the world working as a plasterer in the construction industry – always carrying a book with him, thanks to the encouragement of his former English teacher, Sally Herdman.
