Maurice Carroll
Before becoming director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute (which does public opinion polls) in Hamden, Conn., Maurice Carroll worked for nine newspapers, starting at the Rutherford (N.J.) Republican, in the town where he grew up, and culminating at the New York Times (still there) and New York Newsday (now defunct).
