Kay M. Bates experienced total loss of her sight for several months due to a rare complication after eye surgery. It was during this time that her thoughts turned to her childhood and the adventures of a beloved family cat. Kay has since regained her sight and enjoys cooking, gardening, playing violin and piano, and spending time with her family.
