Karen grew up in Oceanside, California. She starting writing poetry at the age of 10 and quickly realized that she loved sharing her intermost thoughts and feelings with her friends. She sent a few of her early poems to poetry contests and won Honorable Mentions. Two of those poems were published in separate books of the Anthology of American Poets Collections. Another poem was wanted to be made into a song but her parents thought that she was too young so they did not allow her to sign that...
