Julia Cooley Altrocchi
Julia Cooley Altrocchi (1893-1972) was a poet born, hints of her innate gift appearing
at the age of four. She published Poems of a Child when she was eleven, followed
by The Dance of Youth, featuring her adolescent and young adult poetry.
She graduated from Vassar in 1914, married Professor of Italian Rudolph
Altrocchi in 1921 and lived in Berkeley from 1928 to 1972. During her long
