After a lifetime of traveling with her husband in his military and government careers the author, Julia Elaine Allcut, returned to her roots in rural South Carolina. Planning to retire from bedside nursing, she acquired a master’s in nursing at the University of South Carolina and taught nursing courses at a technical college in nearby Newberry.
