Ames Sandra
Sandra grew up in Putnam, Connecticut where she was a student
in the class of Gertrude Warner, author of the Boxcar Children series.
The first book in the series was published when Sandra was in Miss
Warner’s first grade class in 1942. Miss Warner became her mentor,
first as teacher then as author. Sandra became a teacher before trying
