Summary

Five days after Christmas, like everyone else, Harley-Jane Arthur is broke. But, she has a plan. She'll use her artistic talents to sketch her way out of debt. With that in mind, she accepts a commission to entertain teenagers at an upscale kids' party. It's a good gig. She should earn enough money to pay her January utilities, put a down payment on a new barn roof, and buy a bottle of cheap merlot to toast New Year's Eve—alone.

But, on the day of the party, the balmy weather turns to rain, which turns to sleet, then ice, then snow. Janie is stranded in town with no trains, planes, or Uber. While trying to claim the last taxi in sight, though she doesn't realize it, she witnesses a murder.
Her luck changes when she loses her footing and skids down the icy road on her bottom. After she lands in the arms of her neighbor's brother, Cowboy Matthews, her frozen heart unexpectedly begins to thaw.

Gable Matthews, a.k.a. Cowboy, has been waiting patiently for Harley-Jane to wake up from grieving for her husband. When she's stranded during a snowstorm, rescuing her provides him with an opportunity to move their relationship from his status as her go-to handyman into something a whole lot more romantic.

The weather cooperates, leaving them snowbound together in Gable's apartment. In spite of the erratic furnace, sizzling passion keeps them warm. But lurking outside in the raging blizzard, a taxi-cab-stealing killer will do whatever it takes to silence one of the lovers inside.

The peace of a small West Country village is rudely shattered when a bomb explodes in the local supermarket. When, a few days later, Karen witnesses the horrifying murder of an adjacent stallholder at the local farmer’s market, she begins to wonder just who is committing these seemingly motiveless crimes and why does she keep finding herself in the middle of the crime scene?

“You have a right to remain silent…” the police officer directed at Pastor Vint Montrose as he bundled him into the back of the patrol car. Faced with a rape/murder charge he can’t get out from under and, with his small-town pastorate crumbling around him, things looked grim until a spunky, self-reliant private investigator from Philadelphia, named Cilla Stephenson, arrived at his door. He accepts her help and sets in motion a series of events that uncover secrets that shatter the once-peaceful, rural community of Bronson, Pennsylvania. The Pastor and the Private Eye is a murder mystery that delves into the dark side of human nature. It tells a story of hate, suspicion and unspeakable acts, as well as one of trust, redemption … and love. It examines the lengths to which people will go to hide the truth and the resourcefulness and determination others will employ to uncover it. It also explodes the myth that rural communities lay beyond the reach of the heinous horrors of the big city. Through it all, two people discover that they are never beyond the love of God. Mix equal parts of mystery, dark doings, criminal investigation and forensic medicine with a dash of romance and, above all, faith and you have the formula for The Pastor and the Private Eye.
