தீக்குள் விரலை வைக்கும் எத்தனங்களும், அவற்றுள் சிலவற்றில் ஏற்படும் தோல்வியும், சிலவற்றில் வெற்றி கொள்வதாக ஏற்படும் வீண் மயக்கமும், பின்னர் அவற்றின் பாலான விளைவுகள் தரும் வெம்மையிலும் பொசுங்கிப்போய்த் தறி கெட்டோடும் ஒரு மனிதனது கதையின் சில அத்தியாயங்களையே 'தீ' தொட்டுச் செல்கிறது.

Would putting a finger through fire give one any pleasure? Thee narrates the life story of a person, who at different stages of his life puts himself through flame-like situations more than once during different scenarios. A few of those incidents turned out be failures and a few gave him delusional victories, the effects of which later burnt his life to ashes. At the end of reading the novel, one gets a strong impression that, "A fire, which appears to be bright at a distance, when near would completely burn everything near it".
