Sinopsis

இருண்டகாலம் என்று சொல்லப்பட்ட கால கட்டத்திலிருந்து தமிழகம் மீண்ட கால கட்டத்தில் மகேந்திர பல்லவன் தனது இளையபருவத்தில் சமணத்தின் பிடியிலிருந்து சைவத்துக்கு எப்படி மாறி வந்து பல்லவ அரசனாக முடிசூட்டிக்கொண்டதை புதினமாக எழுதப்பட்டதுதான் 'விசித்திர சித்தன்' . கிருஷ்ணா நதிக்கரையிலிருந்து ஆரம்பித்து காவிரி நதிக்கரையில் முடியும் இந்த புதினம் அந்தக் காலகட்ட சமயங்களின் போக்கு, நிலையில்லாத அரசுகள், மதத்தின் பெயரால் ஏற்படும் அராஜகங்கள் இவற்றையெல்லாம் விவரிக்கிறது
