Synopsis

Dhund is a book written by Hameed Razi, in which the men and women portrayed in the stories are truly living, breathing characters, described without any need for artificiality or falsehood. Through his stories, Hamid Razi connects the Punjabi language with village life, while at the same time extending the scope of his narratives to urban customs and the wider social landscape. Some of his stories even cross the border between Punjab and Pakistan, such as “Kahani Di Khoj” and “Awaara.” A closer look at Hamid Razi’s themes reveals a rich variety. His narrative style is free from pretence. He writes in a clear, simple, and refined language that causes no difficulty for the writer and no discomfort for the reader. These stories possess a strong ability to create a distinct identity and to establish themselves with confidence.
