  يعرف شعب كالشّعب اللبنانيّ يمتلك ثروة ضخمة وفنونا متعدّدة من ألوان الشّعر الشّعْبي، ولعلّ في طبيعة لبنان الساحرة، وفي لغته العاميّة الموسيقية، يكمن سرّ انتشار هذا اللّون وازدهاره. وإنْ كان الشعر الشعبيّ نتيجة طبيعية لظهور اللغة العامية؛ فإنّه من الثابت أنّ تطوره في لبنان كان بتأثير الألحان السريانية الكنسية. وهنا يرصد "مارون عبود" أبعاد هذه الظواهر اللّغوية في القرية اللبنانيّة، فيطلعنا على ثقافة "الأمثال" فيها، وبراعة أبناء القرى في تشكيل الحوادث والمناسبات في كلمات موجزة تعبّر عن مكْنونات نفوسهم. وكذلك يرصد ليالي أبناء القرى التي تحمل الكثير من الأهازيج والأفراح والمناسبات السّعيدة، غير أنّها لا تخلو من المآتم والساعات الحزينة.
