  يرتقي الإنسان ماديّا وتقنيّا، ولكنه يظل في حاجة إلى واحة أريضة وارفة الظلال يغسل في أفيائها أوضار ماضيه، ومعاناة حاضره، ومقلقات مستقبله، فلا يصل إلى ذلك، إلا في تلاوة كلام ربه عز وجل، أو مطالعة سنة رسوله صلى الله عليه وسلم، أو في قصيدة مبهجة، ومن فاته أن يمتاح من هذه المناهل الثلاثة فاته الخير كله. ودليل ذلك ما رُوي عن سفيان بن عيينة (١٠٧-١٩٨هـ)، عندما جاءه ابن أخيه يخطب ابنته، فقال له: كفء كريم، ثم قال: اجلس، فجلس، فقال له: يا بني، اقرأ عشر آيات من القرآن، فلم يستطع، فقال: اروِ عشرة أحاديث، فلم يستطع، فقال: اِئْتِ بعشرة أبيات من الشعر، فلم يستطع، فقال له: لا قرآنَ، ولا حديثَ، ولا شعرَ، فعلى أي شيء أضع ابنتي عندك؟ لا أخيّبك، خذ أربعة آلاف درهم، ودَعِ البُنيّة. ولما كان للشـــعر تلك المكانــة بـعــد الوحيين، فقد قرن كثيرًا بالسحـر، فها هو الرســـول صلى الله عليه وسلم يُتَّهَم بــأنـه ســـاحر أو شـــاعر: (إن هذا لسحر مبين) و(بل هو شاعر). فكلٌّ من الشعر والسحر يحقّق تعبئة نفسية كبرى، واحتشادًا هائلًا، ومن هنا كانت فتنة الشاعر والساحر لغوية خالصة، حيث الاعتماد على اللغة أكثر من الحركة؛ أي إن الشعر سحر، ولكنه سحر حلال؛ ولذلك قال الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم: «إن من البيان لسحرًا، وإن من الشعر لحكمة». (متفق عليه). وقد جاء هذا الديوان لينقل طائفة أشجان تلبّست بالوجدان، وأخذت أوفى الأنصباء من السحر الحلال، حيث فيه الدينيّ، والسياسيّ، والاجتماعيّ، والعاطفيّ،... فتلك ماصدقات الحياة، بل تلك هي الحياة، ولكن بين يدي ديوان مترع بالأشجان.
