Synopsis

Stolen Images explores the intricate realm of photography copyright in the digital age, focusing on the challenges photographers face in protecting their work. It delves into the core question of who owns a photograph when images are so easily copied and shared. The book examines landmark legal battles, such as those involving stock photography licensing, and clarifies concepts like fair use and creative commons, providing a comprehensive guide to image usage. The book argues that enforcing copyright is difficult despite existing laws, given the digital age's climate of widespread infringement. It progresses from introducing copyright principles to analyzing infringement case studies, including image manipulation and licensing ethics. Stolen Images culminates by offering practical strategies for photographers, emphasizing watermarking and legal options. It uniquely blends legal research with real-world insights from photographers and lawyers, making it invaluable for anyone seeking to understand and navigate photography copyright law.

    THE ULTIMATE TRIVIA COLLECTION

FROM THE MOVIE DIRECTED BY STEVEN SPIELBERG

    CREATED BY FILM TRIVIA METAVERSE

    ABOUT THE FILM
Catch Me If You Can is a 2002 biographical crime film directed by Steven Spielberg, based on the true story of Frank Abagnale Jr. The movie follows the young con artist, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, as he successfully impersonates various professionals, including a pilot, doctor, and lawyer, all while forging checks worth millions of dollars. Tom Hanks stars as Carl Hanratty, an FBI agent relentlessly pursuing Frank. The film explores themes of deception, identity, and the complexities of trust, blending suspense with moments of humor and emotional depth as the cat-and-mouse chase unfolds.

    TRIVIA SAMPLES:

“Cameo Appearance: The real-life Frank Abagnale, Jr. plays the French officer who arrests Frank on Christmas Eve, 1969.”

“The FBI agent that pursued Frank Abagnale, Jr., and inspired the character of Carl Hanratty was Joe Shea. Frank Abagnale used the pseudonym "Sean O'Reilly" in his book because Joe Shea was still working in the FBI at that time.”

“Contrary to what is shown in the movie, Frank Abagnale never had a personal relationship with any FBI agents, nor did he contact them every Christmas. As he points out, "Why would I do that? I didn’t want them to know where I was."

“Initially, Frank Abagnale didn’t believe Leonardo DiCaprio was "suave" enough to portray him, until he saw the actor's performance.”

In 2.5 Minute Ride--winner of the Obie Award, The New York Press Award, and the L.A. Dramalogue Award— Lisa Kron invites her audience on a roller coaster ride through the Kron family album. Kron's performance switches back and forth between a journey to Auschwitz with her septuagenarian father, a Holocaust survivor; her Michigan family's annual pilgrimage to a Sandusky, Ohio amusement park; and her brother's marriage to his Internet bride. By moving seamlessly between these three diverse events, Kron creates a complex meditation on how human beings make sense of tragedy, grief, and everyday life— demonstrating with disarming simplicity that humor and horror can share the same human moment. This recording also features original music by Dan Fleet.

    Nara Period - Imperial Splendor...

The Nara Period (710–794) marked a transformative era in Japanese history, characterized by the establishment of a centralized government, the increasing influence of Buddhism, and cultural exchanges with China and Korea. It was during this time that Japan’s first permanent capital was established in Nara, shaping the foundations of political and cultural development for centuries to come.
Before the Nara Period, Japan’s capitals frequently shifted locations with the death of each emperor, a practice rooted in Shinto beliefs regarding spiritual purity. However, in 710, Emperor Genmei broke this tradition by moving the capital to Heijō-kyō (modern-day Nara), modeling it after the grand Tang dynasty capital of Chang’an. This decision signified Japan’s growing commitment to a stable and sophisticated political structure. Nara’s grid-like city layout, Buddhist temples, and administrative buildings reflected Chinese architectural and governmental influences, showcasing the era’s desire for centralized control and cultural refinement.
At the heart of the Nara government was the ritsuryō system, an adaptation of China’s bureaucratic model, which aimed to solidify imperial rule through codified laws, land distribution policies, and taxation systems. The emperor held supreme authority, but powerful aristocratic families, particularly the Fujiwara clan, played a crucial role in court politics. The implementation of the Taihō Code in 701 reinforced these administrative reforms, further consolidating the emperor’s influence while allowing aristocrats to maintain their dominance over court affairs.
