With Impression, Soleil Levant, exhibited in 1874, Claude Monet (1840-1926) took part in the creation of the Impressionism movement that introduced the 19th century to modern art. All his life, he captured natural movements around him and translated them into visual sensations. Considered the leader of Impressionism, Monet is internationally famous for his poetic paintings of water lilies and beautiful landscapes. He leaves behind the most well-known masterpieces that still fascinate art lovers all over the world.
Nathalia Brodskaïa is a curator at the State Hermitage Museum in St Petersburg. She has published monographs on Rousseau, Renoir, Derain, Vlaminck, and Van Dongen, as well as many books on the Fauves and Naïve Art. She is currently working on a study of French painters at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century.

Vision and Difference, published in 1988, is one of the most significant works in feminist visual culture arguing that feminist art history of is a political as well as academic endeavour.Pollock expresses how images are key to the construction of sexual difference, both in visual culture and in broader societal experiences. Her argument places feminist theory at the centre of art history, proffering the idea that a feminist understanding of art history is an analysis of art history itself. This text remains key not only to understand feminine art historically but to grasp strategies for representation in the future and adding to its contemporary value."

Alan Whicker is quite simply a legend. A visionary and master of his craft, his television shows from the fifties to the nineties almost single handed invented the language of travel television and earned him the status of one of the most foremost of British media icons.
Yet throughout his forty years in TV he was steadfast in his belief that his programmes should not be about himself but about those people he encountered. Until this year when he was persuaded, as part of the 60th anniversary of the invasion of Italy, to tell his remarkable war experiences in two fabulously reviewed hour-long television pieces.
This book uses these programmes as the starting point to tell the story of Alan Whicker's remarkable war.
Alan Whicker joined the Army Film and Photo Unit as an 18-year-old army officer, following the Allied advance through Italy, from Sicily to Venice. He filmed the troops on the front line, met Montgomery, and other military luminaries, filmed the battered body of Mussolini after his execution and accepted the surrender of the SS in Milan. This is remarkable account of the Italian campaign of 1943 and 1944 as he retraces of his steps over sixty years later. Beautifully written, poignant with humour and pathos this is a masterful book by one of the 20th centuries greatest TV journalists.
In his autobiography, Whicker takes us on a personal journey through the Italian campaign, his memoirs serving as a poignant reminder of the realities of war. His account is considered one of the best, a testament to his status as a top journalist.
For fans of Jonathan Dimbleby (The Battle of the Atlantic), and Mike Wood (A Soldier's Story).

“Let all our voices gather and rise, up to the heavens and fill the sky.” Be Silent No Longer Pop Poetry Fusion These are compelling words, to be certain. They are The Brickley Bray Project’s call to action. As much as we believe we should act, or do, or participate, we all have difficulty taking that first step. The Brickley Bray Project wants that first step to be easy. Just listen. That’s all that’s required. And it is effortless. Diane Bray’s words are simple, rhyming, and straight to the point. Bill Bray has created music amidst inspiration from Diane’s words, allowing the tempo to unfold from the poetic rhythm and the music to evolve from the message. The Silent No Longer Collection began as eight verses of a poem; written to express Diane’s solidarity with and support for the 99%/Occupy movements. It grew to a twenty-one verse call to action. As each day another social or humanitarian issue needed to be addressed, another verse came to life. Bill’s idea was to put the music around the poem becoming their Poetry Fusion, Be Silent No Longer. Thereafter, Diane’s words and Bill’s music became a Poetry Fusion mix of issues and positive messages of solutions. Some are as simple as thinking peace. All you need to do is click a button and listen as you go about your day. Let The Brickley Bray Project inspire you to stay informed, remain focused, and believe in a positive future. Remember, “Together We are One.”
