Sinopsis

This is an epub picture sound book for teenage children. It is for learning the written Chinese characters, pronunciation and pinyin of the commonly-used Chinese words related to the topic of clothing. Each page in the book groups together a written Chinese word, its English translation, pinyin, sound clip and a picture which is carefully chosen to illustrate the word. The sound clip helps a learner pronounce the Chinese word correctly like a Chinese speaker. By repetitively looking at the word, its translation, pinyin or associated picture, and listening to the sound clip, a learner can memorize the Chinese word, pinyin and correct pronunciation quickly and naturally.

“A fresh, revelatory, golden eagle’s eye-view of western literature.” —Financial TimesEarly in Grammars of Creation, George Steiner references Plato’s maxim that in “all things natural and human, the origin is the most excellent.” Creation, he argues, is linguistically fundamental in theology, philosophy, art, music, literature—central, in fact, to our very humanity. Since the Holocaust, however, art has shown a tendency to linger on endings—on sundown instead of sunrise. Asserting that every use of the future tense of the verb “to be” is a negation of mortality, Steiner draws on everything from world wars and the Nazis to religion and the word of God to demonstrate how our grammar reveals our perceptions, reflections, and experiences. His study shows the twentieth century to be largely a failed one, but also offers a glimpse of hope for Western civilization, a new light peeking just over the horizon.

“Full of colorful anecdotes…tells us a lot about the French but even more about ourselves.”—Los Angeles Times   This is an intriguing and thoughtful analysis of the many ways French and Americans—and indeed any members of different cultures—can misinterpret each other, even when ostensibly speaking the same language.   Cultural misunderstandings, Raymonde Carroll points out, can arise even where we least expect them: in our closest relationships. With revealing vignettes and perceptive observations, she brings to light some fundamental differences in French and American presuppositions about love, friendship, and raising children, as well as such everyday activities as using the telephone or asking for information.   “An entertaining, informative book…often witty…a vital source for learning how to establish amity not only between the U.S. and France but among all the world’s nations.”—Publishers Weekly

Now and then, you'll meet a budding writer who fearfully admits they love to write creepy books. "What is wrong with you?" they worry people will say. "I expected you to wear a long, black trench coat and thick eyeliner."

As a writer of macabre fiction, Mary's also your stereotypical "good girl." So how does she balance both aspects of her life? In this brief nonfiction booklet, Mary discusses a psychological and scriptural basis for tackling darker books, some of her favorite techniques for mastering the craft, and how to show the strength of God's light.
