Sinopsis

Glaciers, often seen as static icy landscapes, are in reality dynamic forces shaping our planet, a subject explored in "Glacier Facts." This book provides a comprehensive look into their formation, behavior, and impact on Earth's systems. Glaciers significantly influence climate change and sculpt terrain, creating unique landforms like U-shaped valleys. Their role in regulating global climate is critical, affecting sea-level rise and freshwater availability – did you know that glaciers hold about 70% of the world's fresh water? The book examines how glaciers erode, transport, and deposit sediment, detailing their geomorphological power. It also addresses the inherent risks associated with glacial retreat, such as glacial lake outburst floods. Starting with fundamental concepts of glacier formation, the book progresses through glacial geomorphology and climate regulation, culminating in an analysis of glacial hazards, emphasizing the need for monitoring and management of these icy giants. The information presented has numerous real-world applications, including assessing water resource availability and evaluating glacial hazards.

I recently saw several predictions by well-known seers of the future that there will be a huge natural disaster in June/July of 2025.
Whether a disaster from a comet crashing into the Earth, a huge volcanic eruption or earthquake or a nuclear war; the likelihood of humanity suffering a period of global cooling is that it will happen—and has already happened in the past.
Disasters could actually cause global cooling for months or years. In trying to lookup any books on how to individuals and society should handle global cooling I couldn’t find anything. So I decided to write a manual dealing with this issue.
    This manual has five parts:
    Part One-Understanding the Threat
    Part Two-Preparation and Prevention
    Part Three-Surviving the Freeze
    Part Four-Rebuilding in the ICE
    Part Five-Looking Forward
Historical examples of how mankind dealt with global cooling in the past are included as well as lots of advice on how to recognize this process happening to our world, and how to deal with the consequences.
Survival for both individuals and society, and how to plan for the future.
I hope this situation never happens in our lifetimes but this book might be an aid to survival in those circumstances.

This audiobook narrated by neuroscientist Kevin Mitchell presents an evolutionary case for the existence of free will

Scientists are learning more and more about how brain activity controls behavior and how neural circuits weigh alternatives and initiate actions. As we probe ever deeper into the mechanics of decision making, many conclude that agency—or free will—is an illusion. In Free Agents, leading neuroscientist Kevin Mitchell presents a wealth of evidence to the contrary, arguing that we are not mere machines responding to physical forces but agents acting with purpose.

Traversing billions of years of evolution, Mitchell tells the remarkable story of how living beings capable of choice emerged from lifeless matter. He explains how the emergence of nervous systems provided a means to learn about the world, granting sentient animals the capacity to model, predict, and simulate. Mitchell reveals how these faculties reached their peak in humans with our abilities to imagine and to be introspective, to reason in the moment, and to shape our possible futures through the exercise of our individual agency. Mitchell's argument has important implications—for how we understand decision making, for how our individual agency can be enhanced or infringed, for how we think about collective agency in the face of global crises, and for how we consider the limitations and future of artificial intelligence.

An astonishing journey of discovery, Free Agents offers a new framework for understanding how, across a billion years of Earth history, life evolved the power to choose and why this matters.

This audiobook is narrated by an AI Voice.
Aircraft Systems have been an under explored subject in flight academies. The truth is, a pilot must be familiar with each of their aircraft's systems before commencing their initial flights.
In this work, you will learn everything about the basic systems of the main light or small aircraft: landing gear, tires, flight controls, fuel, electricity, cables and control rods, control surfaces, and all the key systems that make up your aircraft’s equipment.
Learning aircraft systems should take place during the initial flight hours for aviation students. This will provide them with the necessary tools to understand what is happening with the operation of each of these systems at all times. A particular skill that will maximize safety in flight operations.
All of us, as human beings, need to understand how our body functions to identify deficiencies and stay healthy. As pilots, we need to understand how our aircraft systems work to identify malfunctions and manage emergencies efficiently and safely.
