In 1953, The Demolished Man, a futuristic crime novel featuring telepathic detectives, won the first-ever Hugo Award for Best Novel. The Stars My Destination, a revenge-fueled space odyssey inspired by The Count of Monte Cristo, became a cult classic, often cited as a precursor to cyberpunk. 
  Bester’s work influenced writers like Philip K. Dick, William Gibson, and Roger Zelazny. His use of non-linear storytelling, inner monologues, and typography experimentation set him apart. Though he published sporadically after the 1950s, he remained a key figure in the genre.
