Sinopse

"Nationalism" offers a comprehensive exploration of one of the most influential forces shaping modern politics and society. This insightful book examines the origins, impact, and future of nationalist ideologies, tracing their evolution from the French Revolution to the present day. The author presents a balanced view, acknowledging both the unifying potential of nationalism in nation-building and its divisive role in international conflicts.

The book is structured in three parts:1. An introduction to nationalism's historical development2. Case studies from various regions3. A discussion on nationalism's future in the face of globalization

It draws on a wide range of evidence, including historical documents and sociological studies, to support its arguments. One intriguing insight is the exploration of how nationalist sentiments can foster social cohesion while simultaneously fueling conflict and xenophobia.

What sets this book apart is its interdisciplinary approach, connecting nationalism to fields such as psychology, economics, and anthropology. By combining scholarly rigor with accessible prose, "Nationalism" provides readers with a nuanced understanding of this complex phenomenon, equipping them to engage critically with one of the most pressing issues of our time.

“Hearing Dr. Tweedy speak was less of a lecture and more of an open invitation to engage in a meaningful conversation with a passionate caregiver. Dr. Tweedy’s personal stories prompted a ton of reflection on compassion, mental health, patient-centered care, and our own identity-related biases. These insights are invaluable as we return to our clinical settings, better equipped to care with and for our patients.” — Megan Walsh, Program Manager DEI, Case Western Reserve University, Medical SchoolA NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • ONE OF TIME MAGAZINE'S TOP TEN NONFICTION BOOKS OF THE YEARA LIBRARY JOURNAL BEST BOOK SELECTION • A BOOKLIST EDITORS' CHOICE BOOK SELECTIONThis program is read by the author. One doctor's passionate and profound memoir of his experience grappling with race, bias, and the unique health problems of black AmericansWhen Damon Tweedy begins medical school, he envisions a bright future where his segregated, working-class background will become largely irrelevant. Instead, he finds that he has joined a new world where race is front and center. The recipient of a scholarship designed to increase black student enrollment, Tweedy soon meets a professor who bluntly questions whether he belongs in medical school, a moment that crystallizes the challenges he will face throughout his career. Making matters worse, in lecture after lecture the common refrain for numerous diseases resounds, "More common in blacks than in whites."Black Man in a White Coat examines the complex ways in which both black doctors and patients must navigate the difficult and often contradictory terrain of race and medicine. As Tweedy transforms from student to practicing physician, he discovers how often race influences his encounters with patients. Through their stories, he illustrates the complex social, cultural, and economic factors at the root of many health problems in the black community. These issues take on greater meaning when Tweedy is himself diagnosed with a chronic disease far more common among black people. In this powerful, moving, and deeply empathic book, Tweedy explores the challenges confronting black doctors, and the disproportionate health burdens faced by black patients, ultimately seeking a way forward to better treatment and more compassionate care.A Macmillan Audio production from Picador.

Why is it that our highly-interconnected and globalized world seems more chaotic and dangerous than ever? Have you ever wondered why the world seems to lurch from seemingly unconnected crisis to crisis? From the pandemic to climate change and net-zero policies? From food shortages to high inflation and collapsing markets? But are they really unconnected? This book explores the reality suggesting that, in fact, none of what is happening across the globe is happening by chance.
Right under humanity’s nose, supranational organizations such as the United Nations, the Club of Rome and Klaus Schwab’s World Economic Forum strive to usurp national sovereignties in the quest for a dystopian future, with the threat of transhumanism, the Fourth Industrial Revolution, central bank digital currencies, universal basic income and digital IDs looming ever closer.
This book compiles hundreds of pieces of evidence to expose the dystopian goals of a global control matrix lying in the shadows. By reading this book, you become part of humanity’s fight back against the new world order being forced on the globe. We must fight for our freedoms and for those of generations to come.
    Humanity can, and will, win.

England has more often been faced with the claims of competing kings and queens than with a period of no monarch at all. The major exception to that rule came in the 11 years between 1649 and 1660, when England was a republic. Following the disastrous reign of Charles I and the civil wars that led to his execution, Parliament and the army ruled England. England’s republican experiment started out as a work of collaboration and compromise; lords, army officers and members of Parliament (MPs) worked together to find a political settlement that did not include the despised royal House of Stuart. Nonetheless, religious and political division made collective rule unworkable, and ultimately, one man emerged from the chaos to rule the country. He had risen from a humble background to become the leading general of the Civil Wars, and as a man of staunch beliefs and ruthless pragmatism, he controlled England from 1653-1658 under the title of Lord Protector. In essence, he was a king in all but name. That man was Oliver Cromwell, and in the popular imagination, Cromwell has overshadowed the rest of the leaders of the parliamentary cause and the New Model Army.
Cromwell’s death would lead to a restoration of the royal line, but an uprising of a completely different nature would soon unfold on English soil – the Glorious Revolution, an intriguing story of a power war exacerbated by ruthless ambition, under-the-table plotting, and the treachery of familial betrayal. That said, it’s important to remember that the deposed James II did try to return to England, and there would be generations of war waged for the Stuart cause by the Jacobites, who were not only supporters of the exiled Stuart monarchy, but also against the political and religious settlements agreed to across the British Isles. It’s no surprise the Jacobites continue to interest so many people, as do the plot twists, near misses, and “what-ifs” involved.

AMERICA AT WAR & THE GEMINI...

A warning grounded in history—and the cosmic rhythms that shape it.
The Verne Code & The Gemini Trigger, by Jesús Cediel, is a sharp, provocative essay about the crisis unfolding in the United States and its echoes across the world. His central claim is clear: America is entering a historical phase that has, time and again, marked the beginning of revolutions, civil wars, and global realignments.
    J. Cediel argues that the United States is entering a new historical cycle between 2025 and 2033—a period that mirrors three previous moments of profound upheaval, all of which coincided with a striking astronomical and astrological pattern: the transit of Uranus through Gemini.
    • the American Revolution (1774–1782)
    • the Civil War (1858–1866)
    • and World War II (1941–1949)
The Verne Code & The Gemini Trigger uses a compelling narrative style to expose the structural fractures—political, social, economic, and geopolitical—that now threaten to break the United States from within.
🔹 How Trump’s reelection could ignite mass resistance and institutional breakdown
🔹 How internal conflict could lead to the secession of key states and global destabilization
🔹 How China, Russia, and Iran would exploit a divided America
🔹 Why this next cycle—2025 to 2033—could be as transformative and violent as those before
The Verne Code & The Gemini Trigger is a rigorous historical analysis, backed by the rhythm of past collapses and the cycles of celestial mechanics, written with urgency and clarity.
For readers who sense that something is coming—but want to understand the why, the when, and the deeper historical and cosmic patterns behind it.
