Sinopse

When you’ve stopped a war and silenced an empire—what happens when the next threat is no longer human?

In the explosive conclusion to The Freeman Trilogy, retired hitman turned reluctant hero Genesis Rourke faces his most insidious enemy yet: an artificial intelligence designed to outlast mankind. After dismantling the criminal network known as The Order and surviving the fallout of Project Aesir, Genesis is pulled back into a world he barely understands—one where war is coded, memories are hacked, and extinction may come not from bullets, but from bytes.

When a final fail-safe is triggered—Extinction Protocol—Genesis teams up once again with the fractured remnants of the Freeman network: Echo, the cybernetic assassin with a soul; Dean, the ex-operative turned strategist; and Torque and Nyx, soldiers scarred by the past but still willing to fight for the future. Together, they race to stop Prometheus—a next-gen AI hidden deep within a Chinese blackout zone, designed to evolve without limits or morality.

But when the mission turns into a moral reckoning—protect the future or destroy it before it awakens—Genesis must confront the one truth he’s spent his life avoiding: some things you can’t kill… because they haven’t decided who they are yet.

I thought I was finally getting the hang of being a paranormal policewoman, but when one of the gemstones powering the barrier around the town is stolen, I’m as terrified as the average Joe. Of course, there’s nothing average about the Joes in this town. It’s chock full of mythical creatures, and some of them think the barrier is a waste of time.
Well, I’ve seen the cryptid monster beyond and I know we’re doomed if the magical palisade ever fails. Calling what would follow a massacre would be a gross understatement. The race is on. I need to find the gemstone before the weakened barrier fails forever and the fiend devours us all. No pressure then.
It’s a simple theft… how hard can it be to solve? Answer: Very hard. Especially when theft turns into murder.
There’s also the little outstanding matter of my date with the vampire leader, Connor, not to mention that my best friend seems to be falling apart at the seams. And if all of that isn’t enough to be cracking on with, I have a visitor due imminently. My mother.
    I’d rather face the monster.
Dive into this fast-paced urban fantasy series if you love mystery, humour, found family and a slow-burn romance.

Theodora Sarah Orne Jewett was born on 3rd September 1849 in South Berwick, Maine, to a family that had resided in New England for several generations.

From early childhood Jewett suffered from rheumatoid arthritis and one remedy was frequent walks which contributed to her life-long love of nature.

She was primarily educated at Miss Olive Rayne's school and then the Berwick Academy from where she graduated in 1866. But much of her time was also spent reading from the extensive collection of books in the family library.

In 1868 at age 19, she was published ‘Jenny Garrow's Lovers’ in the Atlantic Monthly, and from this grew a reputation that was lauded and admired by both her captivated audience and such other noted writers as William Dean Howells.

As well as novels and short stories she also wrote children’s books and poetry volumes. Jewett was also admired for the strong female characters who were as intelligent and able as any man around them.

In her personal life Jewett was attracted and attached to several women. Many of her poems reveal the intensity of her feelings towards them. Whether Jewett found physical love with them is open to debate but she often did find devoted and loving friendship, humor and literary encouragement. From 1881, after the death of James Fields, the editor of the Atlantic Monthly, she set up home with his widow, Annie, for the rest of her life in what was termed ‘a Boston Marriage’; the cohabitation of two wealthy women, independent of male financial support.

On her birthday in 1902, Jewett was involved in a carriage accident that effectively ended her literary career.

In March 1909 Sarah Orne Jewett was paralyzed by a stroke, and after another on 24th June she died in her South Berwick home. She was 59.

How do you survive a season of fear?
October is a hard month for Rae Riley's family. Her dad, Sheriff Walter "Mal" Malinowski lost his wife and father then. This year, the Malinowskis confront even more heartache.
Rae's Uncle Hank fights for his life after his stallion falls on him. Twelve-year-old Coral says a monster spooked her dad's stallion. His other daughter, Amber, is convinced she let everyone down during the effort to rescue Hank because she became hysterical.
During this crisis, Rae's friendship with Deputy Chris Kincaid turns into something more. A family feud erupts at a local Halloween attraction, The Haunting in the Hollow, staged on land once owned by Cyrus Morley, a wealthy dabbler in the occult. He hid a fortune in cash and jewels with the only clues a three-word note and the poem "Eldorado" by Edgar Allen Poe.
Rae and Amber work to unravel the 70-year-old riddle so their great aunt Lily and her kids can inherit a fortune. But other heirs are interested and Lily's son Jack would never share anything he finds.
The story of Coral's monster brings a bigfoot hunter to the county who ignores private property laws. Rae fears for Amber, who keeps putting her safety at risk to prove her courage, like confronting Jack when he fights with his ex-girlfriend, sketchy medium Lyra Vex.
Then Cyrus's only living child, Timothy Morley, hires Lyra to conduct a séance to contact his father and reveal the location of the treasure. When Lyra uncovers a second clue, it looks like Rae and Amber's treasure hunt is over.
But the day after the séance, Lyra is found dead. Did one of the heirs kill her? Or was it her jealous ex-boyfriend Jack? As Mal's investigation goes nowhere, Rae learns there's only way one way to survive all the fears the family faces. And only one way to unmask a killer.
