Sinopse

Several couples are burdened by the consequence of decisions made several years ago but are each presented with a choice that could correct the mistakes of the past and redirect their futures. The intervening times present new considerations that demand persuasion and concessions before the participants are enabled to restore close relationships and to regain the happiness of former times: lovers have drifted apart into lives that proved unrewarding; mature couples find added strength in a closer union; advice from an elder colleague directs a young couple into a happy future. The coincidental theft of an Old Master from a provincial gallery creates stress and discomfort among those affected but vengeful actions are reassessed and corrected. All participants are drawn to a reassessment of past actions and to question the wisdom of hasty decisions that have obstructed their path to a happy end.

And Miles to Go Before I Sleep by William F. Nolan - He knew, to the exact minute, when he was going to die. And Earth was too far away to reach....
Alone within the humming ship, deep in its honeycombed metal chambers, Murdock waited for death. While the rocket moved inexorably toward Earth—an immense silver needle threading the dark fabric of space—he waited calmly through the final hours, knowing that the verdict was absolute, that hope no longer existed.
Electronically self-sufficient, the ship was doing its job perfectly, the job it had been built to do. After twenty years in space, the ship was taking Robert Murdock home.
Home. Earth. Thayerville, a small town in Kansas. Clean air, a shaded street, and a white, two-story house at the end of the block. Home—after two decades among the stars.
Sitting quietly before the round port, seeing and not seeing the endless darkness surrounding him, Murdock was remembering.
He remembered the worried face of his mother, her whispered prayers for his safety as he mounted the rocket ramp those twenty years ago; he could still feel the final, crushing handshake of his father moments before the outer airlock slid closed. His mother had been 55 then, his father 63. It was almost impossible to believe that they were now old and white-haired.
    And what of himself?
He was now 41, and space had weathered him as the plains of Kansas had weathered his father. He, too, had labored as his father had labored—but on strange, alien worlds, under suns far hotter than Sol. Murdock's face was square and hard-featured, his eyes dark and deep under thrusting ledges of bone. He had changed as they had changed.
He was a stranger going home to strangers.
Carefully, Murdock unfolded his mother's last letter, written in her flowery, archaic hand, and received just before Earth take-off.

ODIN IS ABOUT AS SECRET AS A GOVERNMENT AGENCY CAN GET...
Multiple time USA TODAY & Amazon 5-million copy bestselling authors DAVID ARCHER and BLAKE BANNER have combined forces to create one hell of a thriller series!
Nobody has ever heard of ODIN.
ODIN is about as secret as a government agency can get.
Because within ODIN there is General Operations, which speaks for itself; ODIN 5i, which deals with intelligence gathering, and then there is ODIN 1i which deals in operations so sensitive not even the CIA can touch them. All three are run with an iron first by The Chief, a giant with a gigantic IQ. His top agent is Alex Mason, hard and cool – he's a law unto himself.
But when an ODIN 5i agent based at the US Embassy in Manila, goes missing, and his encrypted laptop disappears with him, the whole ODIN structure is put in peril. Then the agents he was managing start to disappear one by one, and things start to look ugly.
So Alex Mason is sent to Manila, and what he finds there is the growing shadow of Chinese imperialism threatening not only America’s presence in the Pacific, but the security of the whole Western World…
This is a job for ODIN 1i
    And for Alex Mason.

A college party lands freshman Hal Christianson in an America that could have been: no smartphones, no cars, no flush toilets. What he finds is a squabbling bunch of states, the consequence of the colonies having grown up on their own after European civilization collapsed from plague in the 1670s, and they are poised on the brink of war.
For a socially awkward young man, who takes refuge in online games, this is a bad situation. All he wants is to go home, but he has no knowledge or experience that is useful. He has only one skill of value in a world where the rifle is a new invention - he is a competitive fencer.
Fencing may not be enough with the perils he faces. There are stories about people who appear, magically, as if from nowhere. They are caught and killed. The land Hal finds himself in is about to be consumed by revolution and war. As if the situation were not bad enough, for the first time in his life, Hal has fallen in love.
Can Hal grow up fast enough to survive in this world? Is there really a way home for him? If one exists, will he take it?
"A rousing what-if look at a decidedly different America persuasively stuck in a historical past." - Kirkus Reviews
