  Or is her story a darker one? Some say that whoever sees the ghost of Mary Pannell will soon have a death in the family. That Mary takes out her revenge on the young sons of Kippax. When one determined mother, who has lost everything, decides to fight back, can she manage to save the town?

To do this, Maggie will need to call on allies new and old to help take down the guild and dispel the amassing demons. And Maggie herself will need to step into her role as a bridge between the living and the dead. 
  If Sanctuary can be saved, it may just be the key to fulfilling Maggie’s dreams and facilitating the love between a ghost and an exorcist.

  Man Who Found Out (A Nightmare)

  A researcher goes on an expedition to find "The Tablets of the Gods" which have plagued his dreams since his boyhood. He finds them, and the horrible truth of humanity's true purpose in the universe. This story, The Man Who Found Out" is an example to me of pure cosmic horror in that the horror comes totally from knowledge which is (in-story) so terrible that it forever blights the minds of anyone who discovers it. Two highly intelligent and well informed men, Professor Ebor and then Dr. Laidlaw, learn the contents of the Tablets of the Gods, and even though this information is short enough to be on two ordinary-sized tablets, it is enough to induce absolute belief in its veracity and utterly destroy hope in the reader. Yeah, that is pretty scary. There are no monsters in the tale, nothing but Forbidden Knowledge -- which, apparently, is Forbidden with good reason. (Wikipedia and the reader )

His most popular works in the early part of the last century were his humorous tales set around the docks of Wapping and in the taproom of the infamous Cauliflower tavern. Many of his stories were written in a Cockney vernacular and were keenly observant of character.His most famous horror stories are 'The Monkey's Paw', 'His Brother's Keeper' and 'Jerry Bundler', all of which have been included in numerous anthologies.'Jerry Bundler' is a ghost story with a twist. We open in a tavern where travellers are telling ghost stories late one night. One gentleman tells a tale about a ghost haunting the very house where they are all sitting. His story frightens all the company gathered around the fire...and when the old gentleman retires to bed, one of the others proposes to take revenge by pretending to be the ghost. But what happens next is very far from a joke.
