After numerous negotiations the Indigenous still remained scattered throughout the wilds of Northern Ontario, Canada. In spite of treacherously cold conditions, they remained steadfast to the land, refusing to give up their lifestyle while trying to survive from Mother Nature’s unpredictable temperament. Captain Jesse Burn’s illegitimate son was among them. Father and son, a pair of strong-willed rival enemies, co-existed in a strange and deadly kinship while getting caught up in a changing way of life that neither would accept.

It was during November 1898. when Jesse had received his orders as a dedicated, respected officer in the Armed Forces. He had a job to fulfill regardless of the number of lives lost during the process. After Colonel McEwan shook Jesse’s hand and walked out, Jesse stared at the
closed door for a long time. He glanced at the document containing the list of names he was to apprehend, knowing that most of those men would rather die in battle than be taken alive. Jesse scanned further down the list and suddenly froze. He opened his desk drawer and pulled out a
bottle of whiskey hidden near the back. After many swallows, he leaned back in his chair; his eyes were pools of liquid blue. His son’s name was on that list.

The Great Gatsby is a classic novel written by F. Scott Fitzgerald, published in 1925. Set in the Jazz Age on Long Island, near New York City, the novel tells the tragic story of Jay Gatsby, a self-made millionaire, and his pursuit of Daisy Buchanan, a wealthy young woman whom he loved in his youth. The story is narrated by Nick Carraway, a Yale graduate and World War I veteran who rents a house next to Gatsby's mansion and becomes friends with him.
The novel explores themes of decadence, idealism, resistance to change, social upheaval, and excess, creating a portrait of the Roaring Twenties that has been described as a cautionary tale regarding the American Dream. Gatsby's lavish parties, his mysterious past, and his unrelenting desire to rekindle his romance with Daisy are central elements of the story. The novel critically examines the American society of the time, revealing the disparity between the rich and the poor, and the moral decay hidden beneath the glittering surface of wealth and glamour.

THE GIRL BROWNIES – ASHDOWN FOREST, ENGLAND 1919
Book 3 of 6 The Secret of the Whispering Woods
The summary of this third book in the series is as follows:
In October 1919, the Brownies—Lulu, Minnie, Lottie, Agatha, Bernadette, and Beryl—embark on a moonlit meteor-watching hike in Ashdown Forest. Their adventure takes a supernatural turn when whispers guide them to a hidden stone circle, where eerie phenomena unfold: cracking monoliths, sentient mist, and ghostly visions. With archaeologist Dr. Eleanor Finch, they uncover the circle's secrets—an ancient Druid observatory using piezoelectric stones and sound channels to create "ghostly" projections.
Deciphering Saxon clues, the girls find buried crown jewels tied to King Harold, while scientific explanations (infrasound, ley lines) blend with local folklore about whispering spirits. Minnie's discovery of a royal artifact proves the stones guarded Harold's lost treasure. Though science explains much, the forest's final whisper—"More secrets await..."—hints at deeper mysteries.
I have worked very hard and meticulously to provide you with an enjoyable experience, the initial opening credit music, “Joyful Journey”, which does run to approximately 2 minutes sets the scene, so to speak, recorder, tambourine, guitar and accordion in a folk/classical and cheerful mood. The closing music, “Bloom”, ends the tale on with more of the same at about 2 minutes and the same musical instruments etc. but more of an ending feel and looking forward to the next story in the series.
The story and music itself runs to just about 14 minutes and is narrated in my wife's voice, Claire, who actually was a ranger guide!
I do hope you enjoy this audiobook and let me know what you think, there are a lot more to come

Lives are about to be irrevocably changed following a typhus outbreak on a cramped emigrant ship bound for Australia.

1850 Sarah Hallow is orphaned, penniless and alone, with only the skills learned from her midwife mother to guide her. Passage on a ship bound for the new settlement of Brisbane, Australia, is her last option. Though her skills are quickly dismissed by the ship's doctor, Sarah is pleased to find instant friendship with her cabin mate, Bridie, a fiery Irish girl with a sharp tongue and midwifery skills of her own.
When the two women come to the aid of a labouring woman onboard, Sarah's dreams of opening her own midwifery practice in Brisbane don't seem so impossible. Certainly not as impossible as her daydreams about the ship doctor's son, who only seems to have eyes for her friend.
But something else is lurking on the ship: a disease that has the power to take down even the strongest man and is about to rip through the ship like wildfire, leaving only devastation in its path. As caring for patients stretches Sarah and Bridie to their absolute limit, thoughts of the future are rapidly eclipsed by their determination to survive. If only they can make it to Australia with their lives and loves intact ...
Inspired by true events, this is a meticulously researched, eye-opening, heart-breaking, soul-warming story of survival, love and grit for readers of Darry Fraser, Alison Stuart and Tea Cooper.
'A poignant story of love and loss and the triumph of the human spirit over adversity that will tug at your heart and have you reaching for the tissues...' - Alison Stuart, author of The Goldminer's Sister.
