Sinopse

Did some link between infidelity, a blue movie, vegetables and Paris, France, sprout the seed of liberation? Or was it that ‘Aha’ moment on the waterbed in Pocatello? In Cravings, long-time journalist and life coach Wanda Hennig writes—wisely, hilariously and sometimes poignantly—about sex and food; living for three-and-a-half years at the San Francisco Zen Center; moving solo from one continent to another; overcoming depression and social phobia. Also meditation, celibacy, creative mindfulness strategies and more. Mouth Orgasm edition.

The verdict from the three-judge panel is in. Cecil Younger, bumbling criminal defense investigator and totally embarrassing father, has been sentenced to seven-and-a-half years in prison for his involvement in … well, a number of things, ranging from destruction of private property to killing a guy. But compared to the original twenty-five-year sentence, it’s not so bad. His success with getting his sentence reduced has attracted the attention of his fellow inmates, and one man, “Fourth Street,” reaches out for advice for his upcoming parole hearing in exchange for protection and companionship. When he isn’t reading Adrienne Rich or James Baldwin with Fourth Street, Cecil spends his time filling up large yellow legal pads. He writes, mostly, about his teenage daughter, Blossom, who is on a Nancy Drew–like quest to help her friend, George, discover the truth about her biological parents, which turns out to be complicated. After submitting a mail-in genetics test, George learns she is the infamous “Baby Jane Doe” who was kidnapped from her Native mother shortly after she was born. A media and legal circus quickly ensues, but George’s reunion with her birth family isn’t the heartwarming story the journalists hoped it would be. There is an even darker secret about the baby-snatching case, one that threatens to destroy not just George’s family—but Cecil’s as well.

For more than 25 years, there’s always been a home in Uncle John’s Bathroom Reader for those stories about doctor visits or routine surgeries gone horribly wrong--the wrong limb getting amputated, the wrong person getting a transplant, the nurse who didn’t notice her patient had died…for three days. Read all about:* The woman who needed her gall bladder out…so she removed it herself* The man who waited in an emergency room…for three weeks* The heart surgeon who got caught drawing his signature on his work* And many more stories of dreadful doctors, hospital horrors, and bad medicine.

The name Leslie Townes Hope is not the most familiar to us. Born in Eltham, London on May 29th, 1903 he and his family emigrated to the United States aboard the SS Philadelphia before moving to Cleveland, Ohio.

Although he entered show business in the 1920s it was only in 1928 that he changed his name to the one and only Bob Hope.

Stints in Vaudeville and then Broadway was followed by his radio debut in 1932 and feature films in 1938.

1938 was a banner year for Bob Hope as it was also the debut season for the eventual decade running smash-hit radio show: The Pepsodent Show. Despite the sponsors, name getting the billing this was Hope’s show.

His opening monologue was the result of his hiring from his own pocket – he had an extravagant salary from the sponsor - of a team of 8 writers to write top notch jokes and skits. His comic timing turned him into a sensation. The show was so popular that it had its pick of the best of show business stars. Everyone wanted in.

Now its time to cut the talk and get ready for laughs. It’s time for Bob Hope and his guests.

Are the voices in your head listening to you? Oh yes. Yes, they are listening to you. They know what you’re saying. Sometimes, they talk back. Sometimes, they sing along. Sometimes, they write children’s book with hidden messages placed in plain sight with a neon bow because, hey, a little style never hurt anyone. (This, of course, ignores the Great Style Massacre of 1973.) Welcome to “Fun To Grow On” – the new children’s book series for adults. These books are not for little children or big babies. Each story is filled with blood and violence, sex and swearing – Seriously. This series is for adults. These are not parodies of children’s books but original stories for adults who still have a lot to learn… as do we all.“Fun To Grow On” presents the very first book in the series… Cookies: Sluts of the Snack World! When a cookie gets herpes, he decides to ask God for a cure. Can he find God in time? Someone fed a chocolate chip cookie equal parts of blinding self-awareness, cranberry vodka, and shrooms and asked him to tell his story. Here it is, with all the pageantry you would expect from a cookie… which is probably a whole lot less than you would desire.
