LibriVox volunteers bring you 15 recordings of Adam and Eve (From “Paradise Lost,” Fourth Book) by John Milton. This was the Weekly Poetry project for Paradise Lost is an epic poem in blank verse by the 17th-century English poet John Milton. It was originally published in 1667 (though written nearly ten years earlier) in ten books, with a total of over ten thousand individual lines of verse. A second edition followed in 1674, redivided into twelve books (in the manner of the division of Virgil's Aeneid) with minor revisions throughout and a note on the versification; most of the poem was written while Milton was blind, and was transcribed for him.Milton first presents Adam and Eve in Book IV with impartiality. The relationship between Adam and Eve is one of "mutual dependence, not a relation of domination or hierarchy." While the author does place Adam above Eve in regard to his intellectual knowledge, and in turn his relation to God, he also grants Eve the benefit of knowledge through experience. "The Drunken Boat" ("Le Bateau ivre") is a 100-line verse-poem written in 1871 by Arthur Rimbaud. The poem describes the drifting and sinking of a boat lost at sea in a fragmented first-person narrative saturated with vivid imagery and symbolism. It centers around the delirious visions of the eponymous boat, swamped and lost at sea, and is considered revolutionary in its use of imagery and symbolism. The poem is one of the longest and perhaps best poems in Rimbaud's œuvre, and is presented here with thirty five additional poems in one volume. (Narrated by Jason Rosette)
Jean Nicolas Arthur Rimbaud ( 20 October 1854 – 10 November 1891) was a French poet known for his transgressive and surreal themes, and his influence on modern literature and arts, prefiguring surrealism. During his late adolescence and early adulthood he produced the bulk of his literary output, then completely stopped writing literature at age 20, after assembling his last major work.

A collection of twenty-five poems on faith and ocd. Intrusive thoughts come up with what seems like a million flashing warning lights like those coming up all at once on a car's faulty dashboard. None of them make sense but they all feel so real, so personal, yet so alien to the person's heart, nature and beliefs. Suffering in silence, unable to talk as it feels like no one will understand, or worse, that they will judge harshly... anxiety levels soar... isolation follows, even from God, because "He knows". The thing is, He does know. Brains glitch, they can be like the car's faulty dashboard. They are not our mind, and they are not our heart. The battle is very real and the steps taken to overcome must be acknowledged, but the journey was never meant to be travelled alone. These few poems are a prayer voyage towards restored intimacy in the courts of Grace and in the safety of one's hiding place, tightly tucked against His heart, positioned for recovery.

Anne Finch, Countess of Winchilsea, was an English poet, the third child of Sir William Kingsmill of Sydmonton Court and his wife, Anne Haslewood. She was well-educated as her family believed in good education for girls as well as for boys.In her works Finch drew upon her own observations and experiences, demonstrating an insightful awareness of the social mores and political climate of her era. But she also artfully recorded her private thoughts, which could be joyful or despairing, playful or despondent. The poems also revealed her highly developed spiritual side. (Summary from Wikipedia)
