Sinopsis

In "History of the Suppression of African Slave-Trade to the US," W. E. B. Du Bois meticulously chronicles the historical context surrounding the transatlantic slave trade, its economic implications, and the political shifts that contributed to its eventual suppression. Employing a rigorous analytical style enriched with primary sources and quantitative data, Du Bois positions the slave trade not merely as a relic of cruelty but as a critical element in the socio-economic fabric of American history. This work serves as a foundational text within African American studies and leaves an indelible mark on environmental history by connecting ecological perspectives to the exploitation of African peoples. W. E. B. Du Bois, a preeminent sociologist, historian, and civil rights activist, utilized his extensive background in sociology and history to shed light on injustices faced by African Americans. His landmark dual exposure to both African American and European sociocultural perspectives fueled a passion for uncovering the complexities of race relations in the United States. Du Bois's own experiences as a descendant of enslaved people imbued his scholarship with personal urgency and depth. "History of the Suppression of African Slave-Trade to the US" is recommended for scholars, educators, and anyone interested in understanding the historical underpinnings of race and inequality in America. Du Bois's incisive arguments and rich historical analysis provide the reader with essential insights into the American identity, making this book a pivotal read for historians and activists alike.

The term "mind control" is often used in various contexts, but it broadly refers to different methods of influencing or taking control of the mind. The critical question is: whose mind is being controlled?

There are several methods of mind control, each stemming from different disciplines. Techniques for controlling others' minds are distinct from those used to influence one's own mind, which is why various types of mind control exist.

For those looking to change and influence the thoughts of others, learning hypnosis and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) is essential. While NLP primarily focuses on personal development, it provides insight into the personality traits of those you wish to influence.

For example, a common NLP technique involves covert or conversational hypnosis, where an individual subtly implants thoughts while engaging in seemingly normal conversation. Over time, the recipient may believe these ideas originated from their own thoughts, even though they were subtly guided by the influencer.

One of the four central works in Daoism. The Lie-Tzu, or Liezi, was originally thought to have been composed in the same period as the Dao and Zhuang Zi, around the 5th century BCE. However, it is now believed to have been compiled nearly a thousand years later, around 400 CE.Lionel Giles, in fact, was one of the first to call out the Lieh Tzu’s suspicious origins, saying “scholars […] seem to have enjoyed nothing so much as forging, if not the whole, at any rate portions, of the works of ancient authors. Someone even produced a treatise under the name of Lieh Tzu, a philosopher mentioned by Chuang Tzu, not seeing that the individual in question was a creation of Chuang Tzu's brain!”Around 700 CE, it was given a new honorific title, the Chongxu zhenjing or Classic of the Perfect Emptiness, and designated a Daoist classic. The triad of Tao Te Ching, Zhuang Zi, and Lieh Tzu makes a certain logical sense, as each work contrasts the other two. The Dao is deeply abstract, and the Zhuang Zi filled with ethical conundrums and nonsensical stories. The Lieh Tzu is a much more practical work, turning the philosophy into a much more workable framework for thought and action. Most of the chapters are named for famous Chinese characters from history or mythology, and many of the stories are continuations or different perspectives on tales and characters in the Zhuang Zi. In this version, Chapter 7 is excluded. This chapter was not translated by Giles, and occasions a great deal of controversy. It is written in a very different voice and perspective to the other chapters, such that some have described it as ‘hedonistic’ and ‘negative Daoism’. Others have claimed that it must have been written before the author even discovered Daoism.

The story of China's imperial unification represents one of history's most consequential political transformations. "Imperial Chinese Foundations: Uniting the Land" explores the three dynasties that forged China's imperial system—a political structure that would endure for over two millennia.
The brief but revolutionary Qin Dynasty (221-206 BCE) ended centuries of warring states by conquering all rivals under the leadership of the First Emperor, Qin Shi Huang. Through military might, standardized writing, currency, measurements, and a unified legal code, the Qin created China's first centralized bureaucratic empire—though their harsh Legalist policies triggered rebellion after the emperor's death.
The Western Han Dynasty (206 BCE-9 CE) consolidated imperial rule through a more pragmatic blend of Confucian ideology and centralized governance. Under Emperor Wu's dynamic leadership, the Han expanded Chinese territory, opened the Silk Road, established the civil service examination system, and created cultural and political institutions that would define Chinese civilization for millennia.
As power shifted to the Eastern Han (25-220 CE), the dynasty initially flourished before facing mounting challenges from natural disasters, court intrigues, and the Yellow Turban Rebellion. Yet even as political cohesion weakened, this period saw remarkable innovations—including paper, the seismograph, and advances in mathematics and medicine—while Buddhism began its profound influence on Chinese civilization.
Through examining these three foundational dynasties, we witness the birth and evolution of the imperial Chinese state that would serve as a template for governance across East Asia and continue to influence Chinese identity into the modern era.

Our country doesn't have a partisan problem, a political problem, a social problem, or an economic problem. We have a spiritual problem.

As Christianity has been pushed aside, the Progressive Left has developed a new pagan religion. But the radical roots of the new secular religion are ancient. We've seen it all before. In You Shall Be as Gods, Erick Erickson traces the religion's roots from Paganism and Gnosticism through the Age of Enlightenment all the way into the Postmodernism of the twenty-first century. At the heart of the ancient religion is a self-centered culture.

The Christian church today has been weakened by compromising with the neo-pagan religion, leaving the faithful ill-prepared to counter the claims of society's present-day doctrine. Yet there remains a significant remnant in America that refuses to bow to the rising belief system.

Just as in Rome and countless societies throughout history, the religions present two opposing stories of reality which necessitates conflict. In an era where the "Christian thing" to do seems to be to go along and get along, Erickson makes clear that the two cultures cannot peacefully coexist and calls the listener to speak the truth in love.
