François-Marie Arouet (1694-1778), known by his nom de plume Voltaire, was a French Enlightenment writer, historian, and philosopher famous for his wit, his attacks on the established Catholic Church, and his advocacy of freedom of religion, freedom of expression, and separation of church and state. Voltaire was a versatile writer, producing works in almost every literary form, including plays, poems, novels, essays, and historical and scientific works. He was an outspoken advocate of several liberties, despite the risk this placed him in under the strict censorship laws of the time. As a satirical polemicist, he frequently made use of his works to criticize intolerance, religious dogma, and the French institutions of his day.

Fort Laramie is an adult-oriented Western radio series that aired Sunday afternoons on the CBS radio network from January 22 to October 28, 1956.  Produced and directed by Gunsmoke's Norman Macdonnell, this realistic Western drama depicted life at Fort Laramie, an important stop on the Oregon, California and Mormon trails as well as a staging point for various military excursions during the 19th Century. In 1849 the Fort was taken over by the United States Army to protect the many wagon trains of migrant travelers on the trail. The Fort was located across the North Platte River from the town of Laramie, at the mouth of the Laramie River. The series starred Raymond Burr as Lee Quince, captain of the cavalry. Regulars included: Vic Perrin, Harry Bartell, Jack Moyles, Howard McNear, Sam Edwards, John Dehner, John McIntire, Virginia Gregg, James Nusser, Parley Baer and Barney Phillips. Amerigo Marino supplied the music. The scripts were mostly written by John Meston, Kathleen Hite, Les Crutchfield and John Dunkel.

King of Scotland is an award-winning, dark comedy and a free adaptation of Gogol's A Diary of a Madman.
Long-term unemployed Tommy McMillan joins a government-funded retraining scheme, "Up the Ladder". Cited as a shining example of the government's employment policies and chosen for a media profile, Tommy is taken on by the Department of Upward Mobility. The department gets more than they bargained for; however, when they discover just how far up the ladder Tommy is expecting to go.
Featuring trouserless bankers, talking dogs, flying taxis, and a razor-sharp parody of the workings of politics, King of Scotland is an outrageous Fringe First-winning monologue.
About the author: Award-winning playwright Iain Heggie is one of Scotland's leading playwrights. His plays include the Mobil prize-winning play A Wholly Healthy Glasgow (1988) and the John Whiting Award-winning play American Bagpipes (1989). His other plays include An Experienced Woman Gives Advice, Don Juan, Love Freaks, and Wiping My Mother's Arse.
