Sinopsis

A Wonderful World! You cannot tell the particular broomstick that will kill a fly neither can you know the food that is sweet by merely looking at it. You cannot judge people by their present situation in life as long as they are still breathing. But like many people, this is the fundamental mistake that Mr Giwa Smart, Utaina Ekugbe's teacher, makes in this story. He makes Utaina feel as if he is less than a human being. But in truth, no parent can be proud of Utaina's achievements. Even Utaina is ashamed of himself. But then, fate enters into the situation. In spite of Utaina’s miserable situations and Mr Giwa Smart's evil character, how they can both agree that this indeed is a wonderful world at the end of this story, which is full of shocking twists and adventure, is simply incredible! This story, which is about the transitional life and self-discovery of Utaina as he goes through his own share of challenges in life, also highlights the Okpameri culture and history in an exciting way.

Gloucestershire, 1813. Miss Mary Lound of Tapley End would be the first to say that she demonstrates more grace with a fishing rod in her hand than she might ever twirling in a ballroom. This was not, however, a problem until her ne'er-do-well brother sold the family estate, leaving Mary and her mother in very straitened circumstances. When the new owner, Sir Rowland Kempsey, takes up residence, Mary decides to direct her energies into recovering her beloved home by catching a husband.

Promisingly Sir Rowland thinks Miss Lound is a breath of fresh air. But with awkward attempts at flirtation, a duplicitous predator at large in the neighbourhood and the emergence of feelings that complicate her pragmatic goal, Mary discovers that landing the man she wants is more difficult than she had anticipated.

    Description:
Dracula’s Guest by Bram Stoker is a haunting Gothic tale that serves as a chilling prelude to the legendary novel Dracula. First published posthumously in 1914, this short story follows an unnamed Englishman—implied to be Jonathan Harker—who strays from his coach during a journey through the Bavarian countryside on Walpurgis Night.
What begins as a simple detour soon descends into an atmosphere of mounting dread, as he encounters desolate graveyards, supernatural portents, and an unseen force that foreshadows the terror awaiting him in Transylvania.
Stoker weaves an unsettling blend of folklore, suspense, and atmospheric horror, capturing the eerie allure of the Gothic tradition. "Beware the Cat" is an English novel written by William Baldwin in 1553, making it one of the earliest examples of English fiction. The novel is a satirical and fantastical work that blends elements of folklore, social commentary, and the supernatural.
The story is framed as a narrative within a narrative, with the protagonist, Mr. Streamer, recounting his experiences to a group of friends. Streamer, a curious and skeptical man, stumbles upon a hidden chamber where he witnesses a group of cats engaging in a secret assembly. To his surprise, the cats are not only intelligent but also capable of speech.
As Streamer eavesdrops on the feline conversations, he discovers that the cats possess a complex society with its own set of rules and beliefs. The novel takes a satirical approach to criticize human behavior, using the cat society as a mirror to reflect societal issues of the time.
One of the notable aspects of "Beware the Cat" is its exploration of the supernatural, blending folklore and superstition with a fictional narrative. The novel incorporates elements of witchcraft, shape-shifting, and other mystical occurrences, adding a layer of intrigue and fantasy to the story.
Overall, "Beware the Cat" is a unique and innovative work that offers a blend of social satire, fantasy, and early English fiction, making it a significant contribution to the literary landscape of its time.
