Sinopse

"Universal Care Systems" explores how various nations approach universal health coverage, examining the political and public health factors influencing their healthcare policies. The book offers a comparative analysis of different healthcare systems, utilizing data from organizations like the WHO to evaluate their effectiveness and equity. Did you know that healthcare access is only one component influencing overall well-being, with social determinants of health also playing a crucial role? The book emphasizes that health equity requires robust public funding and comprehensive benefit packages.

The book presents a logical progression, beginning by defining universal health coverage and then transitioning into detailed case studies of countries like the UK, Canada, and Japan, which have established universal healthcare systems. It further analyzes countries such as Thailand and Rwanda, which have made strides toward universal coverage more recently.

By examining healthcare financing, governance structures, and performance metrics across different nations, the book synthesizes lessons learned and identifies common challenges and best practices in the pursuit of universal health coverage.

A ticking biological clock shouldn't feel like a time bomb! Learn what you need to know about modern fertility to help take control of your reproductive future—from egg and embryo freezing to IVF, surrogacy, and beyond.
Women are born with all the eggs they will ever have, and 90 percent of them are gone by age 30. The eggs that remain will decline in both quantity and quality, making it increasingly difficult to become pregnant around the same time that many women are focused on finding a life partner, building their career, or both. But Jaime Knopman, MD, wants you to know that science has advanced, the world has transformed, and the choices available to us have changed too. For years, Dr. Knopman’s practice in a thriving New York City–based fertility clinic focused on infertility; now, she is primarily a fertility specialist who helps countless women and couples understand and utilize the latest options that can offer reproductive freedom. This shift is profound, as everything about the way we can, and increasingly do, make babies has changed, with implications that extend far beyond family planning. In Own Your Fertility, Dr. Knopman and coauthor Rebecca Raphael offer an accessible modern–day overview of how advancements in the field of fertility treatment have transformed the path to pregnancy, while also sounding the alarm that women in particular can—and should—take control of their reproduction. Whether you’re trying to get pregnant, thinking about having a baby in the future, or simply want to keep your options open, this book is your guide to all things reproductive planning, from egg and embryo freezing to IVF, sperm and egg donors, and surrogacy. Grounded in science, data, and decades of experience with patients from all walks of life, Own Your Fertility debunks common fertility misconceptions and empowers you to make informed, intentional, and proactive decisions about your body and your future.

    PREFACE

As a soldier, you can be sent to any area of the world. It may be in a temperate, tropical, arctic, or subarctic region. You expect to have all your personal equipment and your unit members with you wherever you go. However, there is no guarantee it will be so. You could find yourself alone in a remote area—possibly enemy territory—with little or no personal gear. This manual provides information and describes basic techniques that will enable you to survive and return alive should you find yourself in such a situation.

If you are a trainer, use this information as a base on which to build survival training. You know the areas to which your unit is likely to deploy, the means by which it will travel, and the territory through which it will travel. Read what this manual says about survival in those particular areas and find out all you can about those areas. Read other books on survival. Develop a survival-training program that will enable your unit members to meet any survival situation they may face. It can make the difference between life and death.
