Summary

Short story mysteries are the most engaging to read and also some of the most difficult to write.
So holds Carolyn Wells, who wrote her famous textbook on the subject, and was known for her own mysteries.
As a study for beginning authors, this anthology has pulled together a collection of mysteries, all under 10K words each. Of course, there is a Sherlock Holmes story, but only one. You may be familiar with G.K. Chesterton, but Charles Dickens has two stories present.
All are mysterious, all famous in their own day. And all short and ready for fast digestion.
See how the Masters of their craft, such as Poe and Frank Stockton accomplished ravelling-out their own mysteries, whether a detective is present or not. And then start crafting your own.
Or just enjoy these for the variety of approaches and writing styles.
Note: This collection contains sequels to the famous unsolved mysteries in "The Lady or the Tiger" and "The Mysterious Card".
This Anthology Contains:
- The Murders in the Rue Morgue
- In a Grove by Ryūnosuke Akutagawa
- The Trial for Murder by Charles Dickens
- The Black Cat by Edgar Allan Poe
- The Lady, or the Tiger? by Frank R. Stockton
- The Discourager of Hesitancy by Frank R. Stockton (sequel to the above)
- The Mysterious Card by Cleveland Moffett
- The Mysterious Card Unveiled by Cleveland Moffett (sequel to the above)
- The Donnington Affair by Gilbert Keith Chesterton
- The Adventure of the Dying Detective by Arthur Conan Doyle
- The Most Dangerous Game by Richard Connell
- Hunted Down by Charles Dickens
