Sinopse

Selections from Ancient Irish Poetry presents a curated anthology that captures the profound essence of Ireland's literary heritage from the past. The collection showcases works that span the medieval period, reflecting a unique blend of oral tradition, myth, and lyrical beauty. Thematically diverse, these selections offer insight into mystical landscapes, heroic deeds, and the intricate ties between nature and human experience. Stylistically, the poetry exhibits the characteristic alliteration, vivid imagery, and metaphors that define the richness of early Irish literature, allowing contemporary readers to appreciate its rhythmic cadence and emotional depth. The anthology draws from a variety of poets and traditions, each contributing to the cultural tapestry of ancient Ireland. This collection highlights the significance of oral tradition in shaping narrative and poetic forms, often mirroring the complex social and political landscapes of the time. The selection process itself reflects careful scholarly curation, aiming to present voices that are both representative and evocative, ensuring that these timeless works resonate with the modern audience. For those interested in the roots of Irish literature, folklore, and cultural identity, Selections from Ancient Irish Poetry is an indispensable addition to any literary library. It serves both as a scholarly resource and an invitation to explore the lyrical beauty of a bygone era, allowing readers to connect deeply with the sentiments of ancient Irish poets.

    rock flight is a book-length poem that follows a personal and historical narrative to compose an understated yet powerful allegory of Palestine's occupation. The poem uses refrains of suffocation, rubble, and migratory bird patterns to address the realities of forced displacement, economic restrictions and surveillance technology that Palestinians face both within and outside Palestine. It depicts a restlessness brought about by dispossession, and a determination to find significance in fleeting objects and fragments. It looks to the literary form as an interactive experience, and the book as an object in flux, inviting the reader to embark on an exploration of space, while limited by the box-like confines of the page. Formally claustrophobic, the poem morphs into irony, declaring everything a box while refusing to exist within one.
    'rock flight is relentlessly potent. Merging resistance and poetry, Hasib Hourani writes back—against the "suffocating state" and imperial forces. Be ready to be transformed by Hourani's diasporic anticolonial poetics.' — Don Mee Choi
    'Here is a poetry of passion; a poetry of necessity; a poetry of survival, and a poetry-triumphant.' — Maxine Beneba Clarke

    This book was written over a period of ten years. These poems are inspirational, they leave the reader with points to ponder. The book is inspired by real life experiences and stories from those around me. The book covers a wide range of topics from family dynamics, love, oppression, xenophobia, discrimination. It touches on issues, that people are not comfortable sharing. The book cover was painted by a great friend, whom I consider a sister, a Kenyan painter and art entrepreneur Wanjiru Kibera. We met in France 10 years ago. So I hope this book will be a full artistic encounter, that will enrich and touch your soul. I hope it will cause reflective thinking.
    As, for me the author, I have a Bachelor's degree in French Theatre and Cinema, both practical and theoretical (Arts du Spectacle/Performing Arts) from the prestigious French University : Université de Grenoble Alpes.

Interweaving a cappella harmony, dissonance, text, and physicality, Mouthpiece is a harrowing, humorous, and heart-wrenching journey into the female psyche.

    The language of Poetry is an art that most of us attempt at some point in our lives. Although its commonplace exposure has been somewhat marginalised in today’s often fast-paced lives we all recognise good verse that can empathise with our thoughts or open us up to experience new things in new ways, to better understand and to enjoy the many strands of our lives.
    But finding a starting point can be overwhelming, even off-putting, so in this series we offer up our Top 10 classic poets, who brim with talent and verse, on a range of subjects and themes that we can all enjoy.
    In the vast landmass of North America lie huge bodies of water that are called lakes but act as inland seas, vital waterways of communication and commerce. Around these agéd waters some of its greatest poets have waxed lyrically on both the times and everything around them.

    Move from a transactional experience with God to a transformational friendship with Him through prayer. How can time with God be a source of peace in a loud and distracting world? In Beholding, spiritual director and poet Strahan Coleman invites readers to discover the joy of being with God, not just working for Him. As they inhabit the art of resting in God’s presence, prayer becomes not only a place of seeking, but becoming. Beholding calls Christians to understand how:  Prayer is so much more than spoken conversation between us and God; it’s a way of existing together. Beholding God in prayer is profoundly connected to beholding and dignifying others.Embracing prayer practices from different Christian traditions digs a deep well of peace in the soul. Our everyday ordinary lives can become the meeting place for God through silence, solitude, community, creation, and hospitality.

    A poetry anthology inspired by passion, travel and love.
    there was presence in the stillness,
    and stillness in a constant state of transience
    where inner and outer worlds were shaped and traced
    by the fading echoes of a single breath left behind;
    a memoir of moments lingering far and wide
    mementos hiding in plain sight
    laying await for the next,
