  Five insomniacs try to make it through the night. From dusk to dawn, they struggle with a crisis in their lives which they must resolve by morning. Increasingly conscious of their shortening futures and lengthening pasts, they fill their nights with distracting activities, desperate sleep techniques, evaluations of their lives, delusions, fears, panics and utter foolishness as they prepare to face the day.
  Five Characters in Search of a Good Night's Sleep was first performed by ViSiBLE Theatre Ensemble at Southwark Playhouse, London, in 2022, in a production directed by Mike Alfreds. It was devised and written by Mike Alfreds with Sonja Linden and members of the company.
  ViSiBLE is a theatre company dedicated to creating performance work that throws fresh perspectives on later life and living longer. A key aspect of its identity is creating work collaboratively, drawing on the creativity and talent of Britain's huge wealth of experienced older actors.

  William Morris was born in Walthamstow, London on 24th March 1834 he is regarded today as a foremost poet, writer, textile designer, artist and libertarian.  
  Morris began to publish poetry and short stories in 1856 through the Oxford and Cambridge Magazine which he founded with his friends and financed while at university. His first volume, in 1858, The Defence of Guenevere and Other  Poems, was the first published book of Pre-Raphaelite poetry. Due to its luke-warm reception he was discouraged from poetry writing for a number of years.  
  His return to poetry was with the great success of The Life and Death of Jason in 1867, which was followed by The Earthly Paradise, themed around a group of medieval wanderers searching for a land of everlasting life; after much disillusion, they discover a surviving colony of Greeks with whom they exchange stories. In the collection are retellings of Icelandic sagas. From then until his Socialist period Morris's fascination with the ancient Germanic and Norse peoples dominated his writing being the first to translate many of the Icelandic sagas into English; the epic retelling of the story of Sigurd the Volsung being his favourite.  
  In 1884 he founded the Socialist League but with the rise of the Anarchists in the party he left it in 1890.  
  In 1891 he founded the Kelmscott Press publishing limited edition illuminated style books.  His design for The Works of Geoffrey Chaucer is a masterpiece.  
  Morris was quietly approached with an offer of the Poet Laureateship after the death of Tennyson in 1892, but declined.  
  William Morris died at age 62 on 3rd October 1896 in London.

  Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy written by William Shakespeare early in his career about two young star-crossed lovers whose deaths ultimately reconcile their feuding families. It was among Shakespeare's most popular plays during his lifetime and along with Hamlet, is one of his most frequently performed plays. Today, the title characters are regarded as archetypal young lovers.
  Romeo and Juliet had a profound influence on subsequent literature. Before then, romance had not even been viewed as a worthy topic for tragedy. In Harold Bloom's words, Shakespeare "invented the formula that the sexual becomes the erotic when crossed by the shadow of death". Of Shakespeare's works, Romeo and Juliet has generated the most—and the most varied—adaptations, including prose and verse narratives, drama, opera, orchestral and choral music, ballet, film, television, and painting. The word "Romeo" has even become synonymous with "male lover" in English.

  Ronald E. Hignite demonstrates in A Time to Live and a Time to Die his poetic skills and gives greater understanding and meaning to God's seasons for man as revealed by Solomon in the Book of Ecclesiastes. 
  Listeners will be inspired by the manner in which Hignite presents the contrasts of the ever-changing seasons of man in poetry and rhyme. 
  Ronald E. Hignite was born in North Carolina and grew up in Connersville, Indiana. He returned to North Carolina with his family after high school and attended East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. There he earned both his undergraduate and graduate degrees. Following college, he taught English at Fork Union Military Academy in Fork Union, VA. 
  After two years in Fork Union, he moved back to northeastern North Carolina where he spent most of his educational career in the towns of Washington, Camden, Murfreesboro, and Ahoskie. His interest in writing poetry was sparked while in college with his readings of the English poets, Byron, Shelley, and Keats.

  Erica Hesketh's debut collection In the Lily Room tells a story of early motherhood. It examines a new mother's journey through mental illness, her relationships with her body, her baby and other people, and the often surreal landscape of mothering, against a backdrop of a changing and uncertain world.
  A dreamlike birth sequence full of eels, foxes and floodwater empties onto a London postnatal ward, where reality sets in. Rudderless and anxious, the new mother writes notes to herself, joins support groups and tries medication. She climbs into myth and prayer, nightmare and song, criss-crossing her neighbourhood with a pram, until she starts to feel better. Hesketh's poems speak of the many things motherhood can mean, the structures it is made to fit inside. Clear-eyed and full of hard-won love, this a story of one of the most common experiences there is, told in a dazzlingly original way.
