Sinopsis

In "Joe Strong, the Boy Wizard; or, The Mysteries of Magic Exposed," Vance Barnum intertwines elements of adventure and youthful exuberance with a critical examination of the art of magic. Through the eyes of young Joe Strong, readers are invited into a world where illusion meets reality, and the mechanics of conjuring tricks are unveiled with a sense of wonder and skepticism. The narrative employs a lively, accessible prose style that captures the imagination of its audience, while situating itself within the broader literary context of early 20th-century children's literature, characterized by its fascination with magic and exploration of moral themes. Vance Barnum, an American author with a penchant for writing captivating tales for young readers, draws on his own experiences and cultural milieu in crafting this work. His keen interest in illusion and performance art, combined with a backdrop of early American entertainment, undoubtedly inspired him to demystify magic for his young audience and create a relatable hero in Joe Strong. Barnum's commitment to promoting curiosity and rationality marks him as an important figure within the realm of children's literature during a time of rapid societal change. "Joe Strong, the Boy Wizard" is a delightful read that invites not only children but also adults to revisit their imagination while fostering critical thinking about the world around them. This book is an essential addition for those interested in the evolution of children's literature, magic, and the power of storytelling as a means of both entertainment and education.

Hero From Yesterday by Robert Silverberg - They were a peaceful people and somehow couldn't stand the thought of executing their only criminal. The answer was to discover a—Hero From Yesterday
The day Lugert's criminals gunned down three citizens in a bold broad-daylight robbery, Domnas Karson, Third Speaker of the Council, said, "I think I've got the answer."
"Answer? To what?" asked Murgon Darell Fourth Speaker.
"To Lugert," said Karson. "The weapon we can use against that throwback who's terrorizing us all."
Darell sighed wearily. "There is no answer to Lugert, I'm afraid. We're peaceful people; he's a throwback to a more violent age. There's no way to cope with him. Would you want to be the one to shoot him down?"
Karson shuddered and said, "No, not me. Of course not. I'm no more capable of violence than anyone else. But Lugert can be stopped. We can get help."
    "From where?"
"From the past," said Karson. "From the ugly crime-ridden world we've evolved out of. Dr. Lorence of the Science Council has developed a time-net which...."
"Of course!" Darell exclaimed. "Bring a man out of the past! A man who won't be inhibited by our innate hatred of violence, a man who'll be able to deal with Lugert as he deserves!" He rose and strode around the long councilroom in quick, nervous steps. "Call Lorence, Karson. Get him at work on the project at once. We can't waste any more time. There's no telling when Lugert might...."

The Tale of Ivan Tsarevich and the Gray Wolf is a Russian fairy tale collected by a Russian Slavist and ethnographer Alexander Afanasyev.
A king's apple tree bore golden apples, but every night, one was stolen. Guards reported that the Firebird stole them. The king told his two oldest sons that the one who caught the bird would receive half his kingdom and be his heir. They drew lots to see who would be first, but both fell asleep; they tried to claim it had not come, but it had stolen an apple. Finally Ivan Tsarevich, the youngest son, asked to try; his father was reluctant because of his youth but consented. Ivan remained awake the entire time, and upon seeing the bird, tried to catch it by the tail. Unfortunately, Ivan only managed to grasp one feather. The Firebird did not return, but the king longed for the bird. He said that still, whoever caught it would have half his kingdom and be his heir...

I do hope you enjoy this sixth instalment, and it's only $3.
the initial opening credit music which does run to approximately 2 minutes sets the scene, so to speak, a fast paced modern beat that gets you ready for the out of this world story. The closing music ends the tale on a dark foreboding beat anticipating the next instalment.
The story itself runs to about 14 minutes and is narrated in my own voice.
I do hope you enjoy this audiobook and let me know what you think.
