When an effort to overthrow the British rulers of Iraq failed, he moved to Germany, where he spent much of the Second World War battling his fellow exile, the Mufti of Jerusalem, who had accused him of being a British spy. In 1947, Qawuqji made a daring escape from Allied-occupied Berlin, and sought once again to shape his region's history. In his most famous role, he would command the Arab Liberation Army in the Arab-Israeli war of 1948.

  Victor James William Patrick Daley was an Australian poet.He was born in Ireland, and was educated at the Christian Brothers at Devonport in England. He arrived in Australia in 1878, and became a freelance journalist and writer in both Melbourne and Sydney. He is notable for becoming the first author in Australia who tried to earn a living from writing alone. In Sydney in 1898, he founded the bohemian Dawn and Dusk Club, which had many notable members such as writer Henry Lawson. He died at Sydney of tuberculosis.He used the pseudonym Creeve Roe (Irish =Red Branch - the area next to the Navan where Cu Chulainn trained as a Red Branch Knight), as well as his own name.   The Aldrich Family was a popular teenage situation comedy that was heard on radio and seen in films, television and comic books. The creation of playwright Clifford Goldsmith, teenager Henry Aldrich was an endearingly bumbling kid growing awkwardly into adolescence. Episodes revolved around Henry’s misadventures with girls, his family and his friends. Portrayed on radio by 20-something Ezra Stone, The Aldrich Family launched as a summer replacement program for Jack Benny in NBC’s Sunday night lineup, July 2nd, 1939, sponsored by Jell-O. Stone kept the lead role until 1942, when he entered the Army for WWII. Several actors took over until Stone returned to his signature role, including Bobby Ellis who became the last Henry Aldrich in 1952. House Jameson and Katharine Raht portrayed Henry’s parents, Sam and Alice. Mary Shipp played Henry’s usual girlfriend, Kathleen Anderson. Jackie Kelk played the role of Henry’s best friend, Homer Brown, for most of the run. In 1949, the program made the leap to television while continuing to air on radio with a different cast.

  The Complete Sonnets of William...

  The Bard, William Shakespeare, is the supreme talent of playwriting and perhaps also of those 14 lines of verse we call the Sonnet. 
   
  The Elizabethan Sonnet Cycle was a popular form for poets in the 16th Century with masterful works by many including Sir Phillip Sidney Edmund Spenser and Michael Drayton.  Many others wrote sonnets interspersed amongst their other works such as John Donne and even Queen Elizabeth herself. 
   
  But ranking above all others is William Shakespeare.  Some of his sonnets are known in part or whole by all of us such as Sonnet 116 Let me not to the marriage of true minds.  Sonnet 97 ‘How long has my absence been’ and Sonnet 18 ‘Shall I compare thee to a Summers day’. Many of the others are as equal in insight, magnificence, tender expressions, sweeping statements and sheer brilliance. 
   
  Whilst in total they number 154 there is little other poetry of Shakespeare’s to compare them to unless of course the majesty of his plays is also thought of as poetry. 
   
  It matters not.  Instead let us feast on these sumptuous readings as we journey together through one of the greatest experiences the English language and its son William Shakespeare have ever created.
