"In the Vault" is a short story by American horror fiction writer H.P. Lovecraft, written on September 18, 1925 and first published in the November 1925 issue of the amateur press journal Tryout. George Birch, undertaker for the New England town of Peck Valley, finds himself trapped in the vault where coffins are stored during winter for burial in the spring. When Birch stacks the coffins to reach a transom window, his feet break through the lid of the top coffin, injuring his ankles and forcing him to crawl out of the vault. Later, Dr. Davis investigates the vault, and finds that the top coffin was one of inferior workmanship, which Birch used as a repository for Asaph Sawyer, a vindictive citizen whom Birch had disliked, even though the coffin had originally been built for the much shorter Matthew Fenner. Davis finds that Birch had cut off Sawyer's feet in order to fit the body into the coffin, and the wounds in Birch's ankles are actually teeth marks.

Urban Fantasy. Paranormal Mystery. Everyday People.
A flash of something in the pages caught my eye, and I stopped. Thumbing back through the pages again, slower this time, I found it. It was about an inch thickness in…Mom’s handwriting…pages of it.
When a woman linked to the supernatural, discovers her adoptive mother’s journal holds a cryptic mystery, she and her closest friends race to uncover a secret matriarchal society safeguarded by mystical unseen forces.
What if cancer wasn’t just an illness or evil sickness that took our loved ones? What if it’s something bigger—a sacrifice or choice to keep humanity safe—to keep the balance?
Ottawa, the capital of Canada, is considered the third cleanest city in the world and rated the second highest quality of living of any big city in the Americas, but unless you’re Canadian you probably wouldn’t know any of that stuff. And it’s all very nice and well, but boring as hell.... That’s what four unsuspecting girlfriends thought, until their good friend Lynn Westlake came home to visit, and they found themselves in the biggest mystery and adventure of their normal boring lives.
The Guard is the first book in the N. L. Westaway urban fantasy and paranormal mystery trilogy. If you appreciate brilliant urban fantasy or paranormal mysteries involving everyday people, you’ll love this entertaining three-part trilogy.
Note: It is recommended that you listen to the books in order.

'There is nothing like the silence and loneliness of night to bring dark shadows over the brightest mind.'

First published in 1820, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, an entertaining blend of comedy, romance and horror, became an instant classic and is one of America's earliest and most enduring short stories.

Itinerant schoolmaster Ichabod Crane comes to ply his trade in the quiet countryside near Tarry Town and falls in love with Katrina Van Tassel, the daughter of a wealthy farmer. But her hand is also sought by local hero Abraham "Brom Bones" Van Brunt who wages a war of pranks and practical jokes against the quirky outsider, who has become fascinated by the local folklore and spooky tales. Late one night, Crane finds himself on one of the most famous rides in literary history, accompanied by a spectral figure reputed to be a ghost searcing for his missing head… and is never seen again. The result of a prank? Or something far more sinister?
Washington Irving (1783-1859) was an American author, essayist, biographer, historian and diplomat who was one of the first American writers to find fame in Europe. He wrote numerous works but is best known for The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and Rip Van Winkle, which have been called the first American short stories.
