Bhopal. India. 1984. Born under a blue sky in a city of lakes, a girl grows up with her father and sister. The three of them together, always.
But as she grows, the land begins to change. A giant factory rises over her town. Her mother always wanted more for them – now the girl wants more too. Then comes the night that tears everything apart.
Ferocious, brutal and damning, Darkling is an epic story of a life ravaged by ecological disaster. Titas Halder's play premiered at the Bush Theatre, London, in 2026, directed by Matthew Xia and co-produced with Actors Touring Company, before touring the UK.

After overcoming a neglected and abusive childhood, she became the first college graduate in her family and a respected physician assistant. Stephanie is not stopping and has become a published scholar and poet. She published a scholarly article in the Journal of the American Academy of PAs, and multiple poems with Wingless Dreamer and Poet’s Choice. She writes poetry based on life’s experiences, everyday life stories and reactions of an introverted poet. There really is not a happy ending to the poetry as her reactions to things are comedically irrational. When seeking success, some wonder why? Stephanie wonders what’s next!
