Sinopse

From the author behind the pen names L.J. Diva and T.K. Wrathbone comes a not so sparkling tale.

One would think that if you grew up in a world of sparkle and creativity that the rest of your life would be the same. Right?

No so.

In this raw and reflective memoir by author and writer, Tiara King, she delves into experiences that have led her to the life she has now. One of toxicity, anger, sacrifice, envy, and pain amidst all of the creativities she’s delved into. The toxic nature of the people around her and the family she grew up in. The pain at not having the life she thought she was going to have, and of arguing with the Universe for giving her the life she got, dealing with the anger from that and the feelings of being sacrificed for another. The envy at not having the freedom to do what she wants when she wants and have the life she envisions in her mind, while dealing with the life she was dumped in by family and the Universe, using jewellery and writing as her escape.

These are stories about her school years, life, family, being a carer, the rise and fall of her jewellery business, her writing career, and how she came to write under three names and set up a publishing house for herself, and what her goals are for the future as she reflects on the last fifty years. Tiara’s also written poems for the book and placed one between each chapter just because she could.

This is a tale of life and creativity that’s striving for recognition in a world that doesn’t want to give it. A life of no love, no success, and no freedom to be who you truly want to be.

A life that’s not so sparkling.

As Hispanic citizens rally to the political right, they will provide the economic, cultural, and political renaissance to save the American republic.

Hispanics have moved materially to the political right in recent years—but why? What explains this marked and sustained shift? Bad Hombres details the radicalism of the modern Democratic Party, which has turned so many outcasts into political orphans. Steve Cortes provides evidence of the massive benefits of this Hispanic surge to the right. Cortes himself has been a key driver of this mass political movement, first as the lead Hispanic face of the 2016 and 2020 Trump campaigns, and presently as the primary Latino advocate for the New Right—patriotic populism. Given this vantage point, Cortes makes a powerful case that reveals how the teetering American nation will find a national rescue by entrepreneurial, tradition-minded Hispanic citizens.

Educated is a powerful memoir that chronicles one woman’s journey from a secluded and survivalist upbringing in rural Idaho to earning a PhD from Cambridge University. Born into a family that rejects mainstream society, government, and formal education, the author grew up without a birth certificate, medical care, or schooling. Through remarkable perseverance, she embarks on a transformative journey, teaching herself enough to gain entry into college, where her life—and her mind—begin to open.

As she encounters a world filled with history, philosophy, and scientific thought, she is forced to confront her family's values and the psychological grip they hold on her. Through profound resilience and self-discovery, the author forges a path of her own, embracing education as a vehicle for personal empowerment. Her story is not only an exploration of family and identity but also a testament to the liberating power of knowledge.

This audiobook is perfect for listeners drawn to narratives of inner strength, those who have battled self-doubt, or anyone who has faced the need to break free from limiting beliefs. With a dynamic, motivational tone, Educated speaks to the transformative potential within all of us—the power to shape our destiny and pursue a life defined by our own values.

'Full of delightful stories...a wonderful insight into the British obsession with al fresco eating' - Travel Gourmet
From the peaks of the Himalayas to the historic grounds of Hampton Court, there's always a perfect spot for a picnic!
Anne Glenconner invites both old friends and new acquaintances to join her in The Picnic Papers. Featuring contributions from Bryan Adams, Graham Norton, Lorraine, Rupert Everett, Tina Brown, Freya Stark and many more, they explore the curious British obsession with dining alfresco, despite our famously unpredictable weather.
Picnics, it turns out, spark strong opinions. HRH Princess Margaret insisted on having hers at a proper table, while the indefatigable John Julius Norwich enjoyed 147 picnics over seven weeks in the Sahara. In stark contrast, writer James Lees-Milne simply loathed them.
Brimming with extraordinary tales and a few nostalgic recipes (though this is not a recipe book!) Lady Glenconner's The Picnic Papers is an invitation to a delightful feast of memories and culinary delights.

In Hell and Other Destinations (2020), the former secretary of state and US ambassador to the UN reflects on the years that followed and recalls the events, accomplishments, mistakes, and decisions that marked her career in foreign policy.
