Sinopsis

The History of the Peloponnesian War is a historical account of the Peloponnesian War (431–404 BC), which was fought between the Peloponnesian League (led by Sparta) and the Delian League (led by Athens). It was written by Thucydides, an Athenian historian who also served as an Athenian general during the war. His account of the conflict is widely considered to be a classic and regarded as one of the earliest scholarly works of history. The History is divided into eight books.

Thucydides  (c. 460 – c. 400 BC) was an Athenian historian and general. His History of the Peloponnesian War recounts the fifth-century BC war between Sparta and Athens until the year 411 BC. Thucydides has been dubbed the father of "scientific history" by those who accept his claims to have applied strict standards of impartiality and evidence-gathering and analysis of cause and effect, without reference to intervention by the gods, as outlined in his introduction to his work.

A practical roadmap for foster and adoptive familiesCaring for children is deeply important to the heart of God, and adoption and foster care are important callings that connect to God’s heart for children and families. But this road isn’t always easy. It’s important that foster and adoptive parents prepare to address their children’s history of trauma, separation, and disrupted placements, which can lead to mental health, emotional, and behavioral difficulties. It is also important to understand how this journey shapes and influences our children. We cannot ignore the deep feelings and questions that children experience as they try to understand their story. How can we help them navigate their identity, and sit with them in the unknowns of their story or the grief and loss that comes up?Drawing on the latest science and research on trauma, attachment, sensory processing difficulties, cultural competence, and grief and loss, authors Josh and Jenn Hook provide a trauma-informed approach to help adoptive and foster families—and the church called to care for the vulnerable in our midst—to help their children heal, grow, and thrive.

This audiobook is narrated by an AI Voice.
Combining evidence and theory, this book questions whether plant life and creatures could all evolve from a few cells, all with their own individual DNA, each with the intelligence of a thousand computers built in. It discusses the Big Bang theory, where our world began, the beauty of creation and all the world's elements. What happened 6,000 years ago that dramatically changed our world?
In 1,500 years, humankind developed the ability not only to record history, but went from living in caves to building palaces. Something must have caused this change! Could it be that God created a new Adam and Eve? Are Judaism, Christianity and Islam based on myth or reality? Are we a unique combination of mind, body and spirit?
And finally, what is history, and how does it shape our interpretation of the world around us?

A military historian examines the strategic cunning of Erwin Rommel’s first campaign in North Africa during WWII. The legend of “The Desert Fox,” German Field Marshal Erwin Rommel, was forged in the North African desert conflicts of World War II. It was here, as commander of Germany’s Afrika Korps, that Rommel ignored orders from German High Command and launched his infamous West Desert campaign into Cyrenaica, now eastern Libya. Driving his exhausted Panzer forces with his indomitable will, Rommel swept through North Africa, where he brought the British Eighth Army to the brink of defeat. Although ultimately curtailed by supply shortages and logistics problems, Rommel nearly claimed the entire region for Hitler. In this stirring account of Rommel’s first campaign, Samuel W. Mitcham, Jr. takes the reader into his subject's strategy, mindset and viewpoints.

Hearing from God is extraordinary. But the circumstances He uses to reveal Himself may be more ordinary than we think.Neighbors and Wise Menintroduces captivating dialogues and unexpected moments with God that go beyond the confines of a conventional religious system and offer the chance for powerful life transformation.Get to know Tony Kriz (known by many as "Tony the Beat Poet" in Donald Miller's best-selling book Blue Like Jazz) through his real-life conversations and experiences that prove that God can and will use anyone and anything— from Muslim lands to antireligious academics to post-Christian cultures—to make Himself known.Through his own prodigal-son backstory and return to faith, Tony presents biblical truth in a conversational, but bold light that offers readers the courage to open their eyes to the unlikely encounters that are all around us every day; chance run-ins that turn out to be anything but chance.Have we limited God's ability to speak in our world today? Have we relegated God's creative voice to the select persons who share our particular religious system? Kriz himself felt like he was falling out of faith until non-Christians encouraged him to "fall toward Christ."
