  As Egypt's civilization evolved, it entered the Old Kingdom period, often referred to as the "Age of the Pyramids." During this time, Egypt reached its peak in terms of architectural achievements, most notably the construction of the Great Pyramids at Giza. The Old Kingdom saw the consolidation of the pharaohs’ divine status as intermediaries between the gods and the people.
