A book can open an entire world of experience or provide a recipe for meatloaf. Either is wonderful to Lewis Buzbee, who has spent much of his life in bookstores as a bookseller, a sales representative, and a customer. In The Yellow-Lighted Bookshop, Buzbee celebrates the unique experience of the bookstore—the smell and touch of books, getting lost in the deep canyons of shelves, and the silent community of readers. He shares his passion for books, which began with ordering through The Weekly Reader in gradeschool. Interwoven throughout is a fascinating historical account of the bookseller trade—from the great Alexandria library with an estimated one million papyrus scrolls to Sylvia Beach's famous Paris bookstore, Shakespeare & Co., that led to the extraordinary effort to publish and sell James Joyce's Ulysses during the 1920s.Rich with anecdotes, Buzbee offers a delightful look at bookstores past and present. For those who relish the enduring pleasures of spending an afternoon finding just the right book, The Yellow-Lighted Bookshop is the perfect choice.

Geronimo, a legendary Apache leader and medicine man from the Bedonkohe band, played a pivotal role in resisting Mexican and American military forces during the 19th century. Between 1850 and 1886, he worked with warriors from three other Chiricahua Apache bands—Tchihende, Tsokanende, and Nednhi—to carry out daring raids and resist encroachments on Apache lands. Their campaigns spanned northern Mexico, including the states of Chihuahua and Sonora, and the southwestern territories of the United States, particularly New Mexico and Arizona.
This era of conflict was part of the broader Apache–United States struggle, which arose after American colonization of Apache territories following the conclusion of the U.S.-Mexico War in 1848. For the Apaches, life on government-imposed reservations clashed with their fiercely independent spirit and traditional nomadic lifestyle. Geronimo emerged as a key figure leading resistance against these constraints. Despite his reputation, Geronimo was not a chief of the Chiricahua or Bedonkohe bands. However, his exceptional skills as a leader in raids and warfare earned him the loyalty of many Apache warriors, often commanding between 30 and 50 fighters at a time.

Bertrand Russell, born on May 18, 1872, in Trellech, Monmouthshire, Wales, was a British philosopher, logician, mathematician, and social critic. Coming from a prominent aristocratic family, with his grandfather, Lord John Russell, having served as a British Prime Minister, Russell had an influential upbringing. He attended Cambridge University, where he studied under Alfred North Whitehead, a notable logician and philosopher. Russell was deeply influenced by the works of Gottlob Frege and David Hilbert.
One of his most significant contributions to philosophy and mathematics was the co-authorship of "Principia Mathematica" with Alfred North Whitehead. This monumental work aimed to derive all mathematical truths from a set of axioms using symbolic logic, laying the groundwork for much of modern mathematical logic and philosophy. Russell also developed the theory of logical atomism, proposing that the world consists of atomic facts that can be represented by logical propositions. His emphasis on logical rigor and clarity had a profound impact on the development of analytic philosophy.
